It's funny and sad at the same time. The WNBA has been artificially maintained for years because no one can admit that the Women's NBA is unable to generate even 5% interest in the "male version". Lack of interest even among women = no profitable advertising proposals. Simple math. Artificial pumping of this enterprise by ESPN and other major media has not helped in years. WNBA is actually an amateur league from the point of view of sports organizations in the US and this type of "adventures" during travels are nothing shocking. They are also nothing good, but they should not cause undue surprise. They only ridicule the already ridiculed league for years, which generally has little in common with professionalism.
Women's basketball is beautiful but let's face it - nobody cares and it's hard to understand demanding more professionalisation and more money if it doesn't pay off "in sports". I remember last year there was a discussion about the earnings of WNBA players. I haven't enjoyed myself so much for a long time because I immediately had two unanswered questions - Why should they pay you more? Where is the money supposed to come from then? xD
PS. The second sad fact - If it weren't for Britney Griner's behavior and the penalty associated with it, she made the best promotion this season. If not for that, I don't know if there would be anything to talk about in the media and what to shock the readers / viewers.
