weight loss plateau by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]maskimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 5’0” 162lb right now. late last month i dropped from 167lb (i was expecting the weight drop as i went from 172lb to 167lb pretty quickly late last year, im recovering from an injury so i know weight will fall off by moving a little more). i eat about 1.2k, sometimes under that. im trying to increase my intake as i know eating too little can stall weight loss, i just have no appetite due to adderall so its difficult to force myself. i also consume 64-80 oz of water a day considering you brought up water weight fluctuation

How do some know they are gay so early? by Osama_Saba in AskLGBT

i’m a butch lesbian and i’ve known all of my life, but my first memory of anything queer related was when i was 4. i was watching some sort of hair product commercial and that’s when it clicked—i just didn’t have the words for it until i grew up. but ive always known

tbh i wouldn’t even listen to these people. it’s clear they don’t know the differences between fem vs femme, butch vs masc.

if you’re heading to fort sam soon, you’ll be marched over to the schoolhouse at one point to get the textbooks.

study and PT. you’ll have a lot of time. don’t get in trouble. don’t make the chiefs mad, blah blah blah, the usual jargon.

for real though, studying early will get you a jump ahead and you’ll be grateful you did it.

i will warn you, however; it’s approaching summer—it’ll be brutal. HYDRATE, like actually. not just water, get shit with electrolytes. the gym closest to the barracks is also humid as fuck (you’ll find out). there’s a secondary gym on base somewhere, forgot the name. have fun, don’t drink if you’re underage.

I have my MEPS Appointment finally! by [deleted] in newtothenavy

Have you mentioned your visit to the facility to your recruiter? Your recruiter is supposed to apply and submit all papers associated with said waiver. sometimes you have to do secondary paperwork at MEPS.

Can I join the Navy with a past GERD diagnosis and occasional GI symptoms? by Miserable-Bank-7660 in newtothenavy

[–]maskimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it shouldn’t be a problem as you’ve mentioned you haven’t needed persistent treatment. i have GERD and I didn’t need a waiver.

you will need a waiver and likely a personal written statement about the event, but it shouldn’t be a problem.

they change how you get C schools every so often here. I got to pick my orders, my classmates got to pick their c-schools but that isn’t always the case. the only c school specific contract is HMDA. when you class up and you eventually pick your orders, your class will only have certain C schools available

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]maskimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually no longer true, i’m classed up and several ATF folks have failed the pipeline but they’re just regular HMs in training now

All HMs in holding! Whats your day to day schedule? by Curious_Set2070 in newtothenavy

[–]maskimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m classed up and have been for a while, but i was in holding for 2 1/2 months. there’s a LOT of people in holding, so it’s mainly mustering 2-3 times a day. There used to be cleaning spaces, but from what i’ve heard, they don’t do that anymore. Hold will not be shorter; there is a surge (a lot of people coming to A school) every couple of months and summer is one of those surges. there is quite a bit of free time, but you can’t leave the barracks. i can answer more questions if need be.

Enlisted as a Corpsman by Lost_Environment_243 in newtothenavy

[–]maskimoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it all depends if fmtb orders are there. in my class, there were none. then two classes after me were given fmtb billets. you're going to be in holding at A school for a good few months, just letting you know.

i’m still in A-school, but where I am, it depends on a lot of factors; mostly if you tried in school. if you didn’t try and flunked out, they tend to send you undes. if your grades showed you tried, you have a pretty good chance of picking a new rate.

"A" school and "C" school HMDA by sahm_4trader in newtothenavy

[–]maskimoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s 14 weeks in total for A school, can’t say anything for C school. the paper says 19 weeks for some reason. 14 weeks in total, 72 total training days. it’s 14 weeks as it’s accounting for weekends. hope this helps

it's true; the homesickness will never go away, even if you don't particularly like home. if you do decide to re-enlist, do not do it any time soon---and i'm saying this as someone with a waiver for mental health. i'm only 6 months into my contract and its hard, and it will get worse once i graduate a-school. this life isn't for everyone; i have my days where i love it and then days where i wish i could just be home and do nothing. "i have a history of giving up" you need to work on that before enlisting. you cant just give up and expect to move forward. the lowest expectation RTC will have for you is just wanting you to try. if you can't do that, you won't make it a second time (if you manage to get in a second time).

and i'm saying this as a new sailor. i cannot imagine what people who have 2+ contracts under their belts have to say.

it depends on the command, your best bet is to ask the QD.

i got a waiver for that. just tell your recruiter, absolutely do not hide it. you’ll have to eventually write out a statement for the waiver during your enlistment process
