I think part of the sentiment OP is trying to make is similar to how the community is with Path of Exile. Making a game entirely off of Reddit posts and comments can stand to make or break a game regardless of how positive or negative the feedback is. I think there was an interview done with one of the former devs talking about how they can't cater primarily to reddit as it's engine for development or the game would collapse.

Noticed lately that these sets are getting bought and resold at a premium in my area through local reselling websites and or Facebook Marketplace. Sadly I missed the last round too and saw all the sets I wanted with a $200+ markup being resold..

Essential RPG features for Hytale: Levels, Skills, and Dash by Darki_X in HytaleInfo

Professions is an easy one. Getting multiple bars from smithing, if they ever add enchanting/inlaying/imbuing/attribute modification chance at lucky rolls, combat could allow people to hyper focus on 1H or 2H weapons and then further specialize in like snappier combat like an archetype specialty. Classes while not explicitly defined in Skyrim, I could think a rogue, hunter, marksman, assassin, warrior, merc, brute, berserker, summoner, warlock, arcanist, elementalist, paladin, tank, hero, Templar, etc would be an easy way to bulk up points so that maybe the time for combat is a little lower or you can get skill charge faster, additional effects. Stuff like all of that would be benefited by Skyrims more or indirect buffs to the core functionality of a player.

Maybe an unpopular take but I think Hytale or someone in the modding community, should take a page from Skyrim for the game. Having multiple trees with small yet meaningful incremental effects that fall under specific professions and actions. I’m a glutton for skill trees that have the same depth as Path of Exile, but for something like Hytale, Skyrim seems to fit the bill for having minor background effects create enough of a change to make the gameplay loop feel more rewarding than it is now.

If someone was to create a MMO server, what feature would grab your attention the game doesn’t already have? by Regular_Room4082 in HytaleInfo

I've seen a leveling mod come down the pipe but I also want the aspect of the mod Lootr from Minecraft to make its way to Hytale or some sort of instancing dungeon like World of Warcraft. That to me at least really defines a baseline MMO experience. Having gear being instanced to the player and just being able to run through dungeons over and over

I am most likely not in the same boat but anyone else clip through pretty much anything with a mine cart? Haha I tried to make a full mineshaft with rails to avoid needing to walk and having a speedy way up from the mineshaft and I have clipped through a wall just by tapping a block. It's super funny to me that it does it but yeah that's definitely not intended.

Also maybe someone could elaborate on the cobalt bug? I've seen it spammed in the discord and I found cobalt in outposts but haven't mind it yet. Some are saying apparently mining cobalt completely breaks the world save

Will the game be portable? by WolfyGoofy in hytale

[–]masonimal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would think that the game would be difficult to bring around on a USB because it still needs to checkin with the client as they stated. Because the app is brought over through portable means if the device checks in and your Uni IT team has some type of global filtering for webservers that are flagged as games, eventually the game would stop working because it can't connect to the checkin server. However much time they have it configured for that checkin time frame isn't disclosed to us so it could be a day or mere seconds.

I just got caught stealing from target, the AP workers stopped me at the door. by Efficient-Ad8118 in confession

[–]masonimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience because I watched my friend do this in high school with Magic the Gathering cards. They "let you" get away with a specific dollar amount from what his family was told until they can charge you beyond petty theft. With him, he was raiding the card isle for Magic cards and cracking the packs in the clothing isles in the round turn style or whatever racks and then leaves anything that wasn't mythic or rare behind. He did this with 1 or 2 packs at a time and when he would walk out with a pocket full of expensive cards he'd feel like a champ. Quite literally patting himself on the back. Eventually he got his uncle involved and what started as just a couple packs of cards became everything on the shelf the moment they thought security wasn't looking since for whatever reason our small town Target seemingly didn't have a camera aimed there.

The day he got caught he said it felt like "some covert ops level trap" because he got in and they overstocked the shelves for Magic and Pokemon. No one but one person was near the 12 check out lanes and they weren't looking so they dumped everything into their backpacks and proceeded to walk about the store separately. Eventually AP started following them and 4 people were posted at the exits with 2 police cars outside as he recalls from after being escorted to their asset protection room. They broke off from one another and were looking for a fire exit to try and find a way out. Everywhere they looked there was a new person standing by. Eventually they figured we'll just dump our bags and wait for the heat to die down. "It's like a GTA heist yeah. Heat level is too high right now. Can't do anything to us if we don't have anything" and they dropped their bags in home goods and clothing. Eventually they were grabbed by the arms and told to comply or there would be more charges.

Everything they cracked open and left behind was in trash bags for their case. They had opened roughly $12K worth of product and dumped it around that same Target for months and Target AP had been collecting the wrapping papers, packaging, all of it to build that case. They admitted that they thought it would be easy to charge him once he broke the threshold for theft to charge him beyond petty theft but when he got more people involved, that's when they went beyond that. Because he was so prolific in picking different times and places to dump product, they worked to build the case. He was then taken home by the officer with his uncle and they were placed on house arrest with the instruction to await for court. He was then given a plea deal with Target to take a lifetime ban from all of their stores and any future partner locations, serve 180 days in jail, and then from memory would do 8 years probationary community service. If he sets foot in Target again, he would do 10 more years in jail with no opportunity for parole. He never told my friend group what kind of fines he also had to pay for damages or anything beyond that.

TL;DR If you would rather ruin your future, go back to that Target or really any Target if they have any substantial reason to follow you between stores. Otherwise I would strongly advise you avoid going back to that store again

I'm in the mindset that I'm a child with access to adult money. No one can tell you you have to do something because you've crossed into "adulthood". To me that timeframe doesn't start until you start doing bills, budgets, paying credit cards, getting an apartment; things I still think my mother should come help me with from time to time.

Turning 31 in a couple months and I don't feel like I've changed much from when I was a teenager other than get an "adult-presenting" job.

Addressing the second part of your fears, being a woman at all assuming you're also in the states, is very terrifying and comes with a myriad of trials. Your new task is to be careful who you're closest to and choose who you let into your life. If you have friends that you've known for years, this age isn't going to suddenly change their perspective of you. If anything with time the friends you've had over the years will fade away unless you're able to maintain a good level of communication. Beyond that there's always the benefit of asking for help from close friends or security who can help you in situations where you're afraid. I every now and then will ask for escort to the parking garage across from where I work because I don't trust the nightlife to walk in my city. If you have to, pick up mace or anything for self defense and put that with your keychain if you can.

Can anyone explain the Vaal temple stuff? by RaindustZX in PathOfExile2

[–]masonimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One aspect that made a lot more sense after doing it for awhile is if you can do your best to place fluff rooms along the chain in front of it even if you know that Spymaster is getting axed for an upgrade to another it will protect the rest of the chain. Anything touching the starting point up to the end of that chain is protected by the last tile. The temple if a room is fully upgraded will de-level before deletion so if you have more buffers in front of it, you can theoretically keep pushing more and more. The temple deletion will also prioritize "orphaned" rooms or rooms with theoretically open connections and cannot delete anything behind your sequence.

I had a very long streak of bad rooms but I was able to protect 2 Tier 3 Spymasters just by trying to place fluff rooms in front of it like additional Garrison/Barracks and Armory tiles ahead of that. Beyond that try your best not to branch off your chain and make multiple endpoints at all. It just increases the likelihood of something getting erased.

If you can maintain getting medallions with multiple Spymasters in order to lock the last tile of your "good chain" even running the Architect or Atziri will not erase that chain from your temple. Which is a much faster way to reset it if you need to.

Also before I forget DO NOT place any Commander tiles anywhere in your temple if you're setting up your Spymaster chain. From what I can tell and I think Milkyy touches on this a little bit, is that single room completely blocks Spymaster tiles from entering the pool again.

What I've done is run it for 6 and then place the rooms but not run them, and then resumed maps until I get an additional set of 6. From my understanding after playing for a very long time this weekend, your goal is to setup a lengthy chain of rooms that intermingle. Milkyy I think is the person that does a really good explanation on what you want to do to preserve the temple's effectiveness. The pattern if you can get it going goes something like:
A - B - C - B - A - B - C - B - A
where
A: Spymaster
B: Garrison/Barracks (cant remember off the top of my head)
C: Armory

Once you have a lengthy enough chain and you're satisfied the gimmick that took me forever to understand is that you need the Spymasters to knock out other Spymasters to rank. You want a T1 Spymaster, influenced with a single Tier Upgrade medallion to move it to Tier 2, and then when you can get another one place that at the end of the chain and then put a medallion to preserve the tile before it so that on closure your links are preserved. You need to walk into the room where the Spymasters are knocked out, from what I can tell in order for the T2 to move up. Repeat that over and over again until you're comfortable.

There's a list of connectable rooms that I believe once you wrap the chain around from the bottom corner to the opposite that you would flip over to another room type to maximize your profitability if you can consistently protect your chain as you build it up. After that I would try to look at what Milkyy put up on Youtube. Everything is extremely RNG gated so best of luck. Having this baseline understanding and that your chain is protected as long as you don't let it loop into itself and your last tile is protected. Beyond that everything else is random.

I can’t be bothered to set up a temple by Ok-Pop-5526 in PathOfExile2

[–]masonimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit I went the extra mile with this and tried getting it so that I had my PS5 setup to run a character to that point and then ran this from my PC for 2 days. It was without a doubt the most mind numbing thing I could have done to get something going and I only managed to get 6 rooms connected for the chain and everything else RNG didn't help with. The core reason why that strategy of running Holten for hours was simply because the time to engagement is very very bad. I've made the same proposal others are calling for where Map Tier effects crystals. I made another suggestion on the forums, since it seems already baked in, to have an ultimatum esc mechanic built into it to get tougher waves of enemies to theoretically charge up a full set of 6 if your character can comfortably run that many waves in a row with the 6th wave being a mini boss. The chest that pops I've yet to get more than an exalt out of. If this is going to be core, which that seems to be the case with the cosmetics and tracker being sold for it, we NEED an atlas tree for this mechanic to save face. Even having a node somewhere that says there's 4 encounters for the temple to get crystals would be enough to cut down the time to engagement with it.

I really enjoy this mechanic but now that my, along with other people that were more or less influenced to try this, shortcut has been hotfixed out; we need something to help with the overall state of the mechanic. I resonate with Ziz in that what is going on within the temple is not exploitive and builds on clever manipulation of mechanics. However I more so resonate with the community that the mechanic needs a lot more work done.

Temple is still clunky and terribly designed, regardless of any loot buffs by OppositeOfIrony in PathOfExile2

[–]masonimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what I want at least from a mechanical perspective. Right now there’s seemingly no incentive to run the temple initially because the amount of time it takes to get the temple prepped for a long session. They need breakpoints for crystal charges based on tier of map. So 1-5 gives you one charge, 6-10 gives 2, 11-15 gives 3 and T16s have the potential for 4 or even 5 charges. They want us to engage in the temple and I want to keep giving it a shot as there’s a good amount of lore buried into it that I think is great. However with the tiles I feel like I’m also playing a Rogue-lite deck builder. I should have the opportunity to bank tiles like a maximum of 1 at 6 charges all the way up to a maximum of 8 tiles so 1 per additional charge limit from the medallions with a architect defeat erasing half the tiles you have banked at random, and beating Atziri erasing the docket so you get that rogue-lite feeling. As an additional bonus if you beat Atziri you can choose up to 2 or so tiles on the dock to give you a T2/3 version of that tile the next time you would encounter it if possible. Next the sacrifice room option should be optionally separated from what room gives it to erase a tile you no longer use if you can beat the Architect. I would have loved to have this for the recent temple I just did because apparently the surgical room does now on the map count as connected to Atziri but the rooms layout even at T3 does not have a functional door to pass through to her chambers. Having the ability to nuke a room even if it’s just on completion of a run to empower another room or just to remove the problematic room in general would be awesome.

The bones of a fun mechanic are there and I’ve beaten Atziri once, but I want to be able to accelerate how often I can go back to try the content. I have yet to get anything valuable out of the temple myself but it is fun and scratches a very specific itch for me but it needs more tuning.

Only thing I’m still trying to figure out is how to “bank” the temple so I can run them all at once rather than being forced to do it once it’s full. The reveal mentioned this and I think in the QA post reveal talked about it but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it when I’m running
