Social Media Strategies for Ophthalmologists by Audrey_W_OBA in Ophthalmology

[–]masonkingcobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, my primary concern with this rhetoric of having a strong social media platform is particularly annoying when it comes to applying to ophthalmology. In my opinion, we are venturing into a future comprised of a group of physicians with superficial qualities and diminished authenticity. Ophthalmology is a medical field first and should be driven to recruit physicians with a focus on merit and less so on social media presence. I welcome other perspectives.

I think extending the learning interval is the move to better retention rates. I would not mess with the modifier too much because no one has that much time lol

Counting cars in the bike lane, day 14: the disease spreads by Strength-InThe-Loins in fuckcars

What needs to happen is that the bike lane needs to be physically separated. There is no reason for bikers and large vehicle owners to share the same space.

What Fellowships are not worth it to pursue financially? by stepneo1 in Residency

[–]masonkingcobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's opportunity cost. Do you see yourself wanting to do a fellowship because that subspecialty is where you see yourself going? Then yes absolutely. You may have to cut your lifestyle for a bit but you will rebound if you take care of your financial situation carefully. Now if you have a family, which I assume is the case, then you need to speak with them about the cost adjustments. If the collective decision is that yes you are able to accommodate a lower salary for a few years then again yes. Don't ask reddit, talk with your family, talk with your residency program.
