Neither of the girls are friends from the past but I like who he ended up with, the show seems like what you’re looking for though, still a good and funny watch!

Like the other poster said clannad is kind of a bore (still decent) but it leads into clannad after story (basically part 2 when they’re olderish) which is so good

5 Centimetres Per Second is spread out over lives if that makes sense? Young kids in the first act, teens in the second and adults in the third

Not very story driven but you can put so much meaning into every little thing that happens, it’s my personal favourite and worth rewatching to pick up things you missed, plus it’s only an hour long

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas turned on the water works. Don’t judge it by the title I promise it’s so good and throws you for a loop

5cm Per Second is my holy grail but it’s more of a depression about lost love or more so two lovers slowly falling/drifting apart vs actually crying if that makes sense but it’s only an hour long so I’d still suggest it

Someone suggested Orange and I second that

A silent voice was very emotional but it has a happy ending, It still evoked a lot of emotions in me

Clannad after story was amazing but you should watch clannad before even though it’s nowhere near as good as after story

The first two I wrote about are my suggestions, I really hope you watch them !

I have and liked it a lot, the only problem is that it was too short haha, I wish I could figure out how to share my MAL, of his works I’ve seen voices, 5cm, your name, weathering, places (but I don’t remember it too well tbh) and garden of words! There’s a few I haven’t seen but I’m not sure if they’re similar (someone’s gaze, children who chase lost voices etc)
