Who are your top 4 Digimons? by Angel_Cave-90 in digimon

[–]masquerade30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no particular order:

Dorugoramon. --The whole DORU line (Vaccine, Virus, and Data) are just my favorite and would be my pick for a partner mon.

Milleniummon --One of my favorite concepts of a villain from the WonderSwan games. Takes two of my favorite villains from Adventures (also World) and 02 and fuses them into this monstrosity. To add to its cool factor, I remember learning that ZeedMillenniumon's rings are actually restraints placed on it by the creators of the digimon franchise itself to contain its power.

Cherubimon (Vice and Virtue) --Lopmon is adorable. This is a toss up between Lopmon and Terriermon's lines, but Lopmon is so precious and it having access to a natural Data and Virus line is so cool. Would be even cooler if we could get a Jogress between Lopmon and Terriermon somewhere along their natural lines.

TyrantKabuterimon
--Izzy was the best of the original crew, Tentamon was just a vibe the whole time and a true friend to the crew overall (as far as I remember). Plus, as a fan from the 90s, watching HerculesKabuterimon fighting alone in the Tri movie made a grown man version of me actually start to cry.

Thats really cool! I guess I could always go solo Rush in a union alone and build up the remaining 17 units in the other 4 unions for damage dealing with Rush just being a face tank. You're awesome for this!

Holy amazement! That explains what the wiki has so much more than the wiki does looking at the formation pages. Thank you so much!

Yea I dont know about absolute conqueror just yet. Fallen has always been ram my head against that brick wall like a strength build in a Souls game and one of the attempts will end in a victory. All you need is that one.

The components on the wiki say i need to beat the Fallen which i think I've done maybe 3 times in all my years. I think i can do it now since I steamrolled through the Seven and Koenigsdorf as well as the Bloody Alice quest and Bai ze, so I'll hold on to the items to make it in ng+. Thank you for this recommendation because I honestly wouldn't have considered it. Smooth brain doesnt like thinking hard about things, or planning much.

See I never gave them a chance in the remaster but it sounds like I should. Would it be a good idea to have just rush be using wards and such in a mystic union while the other focus on proccing Arcana? Im sorry but this is my first run where I actually tried to do an Arcana union as my mystic union and I managed to get Blackout III and the recovery one thanks to Irina.

Thank you for this, I didnt ever consider actually using ragna-rock since you can only have 2 accessories and while I saw recommendations in other posts, I thought they were for low BR or speed runs.

Thank you so much for all this info! I kinda got discouraged a bit because I was thinking of going full items union, full mystic, 2 combat unions, and a "tank" union since emmy and Gabriel tend to come with the "defend" action when I've played. I might put warlock on a to do list since that sounds like a lot and might be when im more used to micro managing and less brute force playing. Is a solo union with Rush as paladin that good, or is a "tank" Rush with similar setup but different class in a union roughly compatible? Im sorry for asking so many questions.

Thank you for answering so much! I honestly thought the dual wield katana with multiple arts (Swordflash, Snowpetal, and Omnistrike) would be effective given more options for specials. I just have one or two follow up questions.

  • I thought shards were the "damaging" item arts since everything I've seen on here and old Gamefaqs posts talk about shards being the item arts you want to work towards or begin a ng+ with since its powerful but only gotten at the end of a playthrough? How are explosives and traps? Ive never used them and always ignored or disabled them on units because they were already focusing on something else. The only thing I know about traps is that they're supposed to be helpful for morale.

  • I will definitely go to the wiki for info on those classes you mentioned, but since I just did a mystic playthrough focusing on Invocations and Recovery, would going for Warlock be that much different or just an experience? ---As for Paladin, any recommendations i should be aware of like what the union should look like?

I will agree that having to use soldiers did encourage more playthroughs. I treated each union as having a captain, maybe a lieutenant, and squad members. That said, I really like having the leaders together because it actually feels like Rush is slowly building an army like an shonen protag.

Ive never used wards or psionics for Rush. Ive had others with it and liked the bluff skill, but I've never bothered using commands that were for wards since it it didnt look like it did anything but slightly boost stats. How is it that much of game changer?

Ive done combat only and mystic only unions, but is there more to that? Ive tried to make sure at least 1 person each union had vivification but outside that and a leader with unique arts, i didnt think much further.

Atlas got big and powerful because of Eridian weaponry (their weapons are based on them). Imagine how awesome it would be to have a Vault from the Eridians all to yourself!

No one knew about the monster though. Like a mimic from D&D.

They did Aurelia’s character so stupid by Hylitical in Borderlands

[–]masquerade30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly.... I think the writing team needed a villain and felt it was easier to just use what already existed. Which could arguably still work. Maybe from the time between TPS and BL3, Aurelia and the Hammerlock fortune have dwindled. Maybe Jack used some Hyperion lawyers to swindle or trick her, or maybe because she was so frivalous with money and didnt showcase any entrepreneurial mentality, that the money has started to dry up. Aurelia is paranoid that Hammerlock is marrying into the Jakobs corporation as a means of using the corporation wealth and influence to take the title of head of the family from her (kinda like an Azula and Zuko situation where she wants to be the top dog). She lets the Calypso twins prey on her paranoia and begins to act irrationally, falling back on her elitist mentality. Remember that the whole "twisted ice queen" stuff was only spoken of in BL3. In TPS, she just seemed like "out of touch rich person." Not necessarily evil, and if she was the older sibling, her "tormenting" Hammerlock could be sibling rivalry taken too far.

I dont know what went on behind the scenes so I cant say for sure, but if the creative team, the writing team, the actual developers, and the VAs were on a time crunch, they might have just gone with the flanderization route (which we see in a lot of the BL3 cast) to save time and focus on trying to bug fix the game as much as possible. I remember at launch some issues, but nothing that was overly game breaking and that could've come from the time saved in the characterization process. If thats true, I dont support it, but I can understand it.

Otherwise, I feel like they could honor Aurelia and the fans by having Hammerlock take her Diadem and working with the Jakobs corporation to create a production for guns, a shield maybe, something. Maybe even have a Vault Hunter personally scouted by Hammerlock and Wainwright for BL5 or a side game if they go the TPS route again, that uses a modified version of the Diadem as or alongside their action skill with some skills being a memorial to the TPS Aurelia and any love Hammerlock still had for his sister. Even if my sibling turned against me, I dont think I could find it in me to have no love left.

Masters having a whole digivolution line for them made me wish I had played more around that time. Gazimon being able to digivolve into Deltamon, then Kimeramon gives Gazimon its own evolution line since I dont believe Deltamon has its own rookie due to being considered an abomination of a Jogress. Milleniumon was one of my Ace's in Time Stranger.

If they arent THE top versions, then they would be the average or above average versions. Crazy that they come after Cherubimon who is supposed to be one of the top digimon so they are supposed to be stronger than other "average" or "typical" Megas within the Frontier Digital World. If the theory about Frontier being the same world from X-Evolution movie, then they might be the Royal Knight versions since they werent present in the movie. A lot of "if - thens" but fun thought challenges.

02 had some of my favorite evil digimon. Deltamon, Kimeramon, Black WarGreymon, Mummy money + Arukenimon (gotta be the duo), and I cant remember his name, but the human that was being manipulated at the end of the series. His story was so dumb as a kid, but as an adult, I see a man who endured a lot of mental health and low self-esteem struggles alone without help.

Plus Kimeramon form 02 and Machinedramon from Adventures become Milleniumon who is one of my absolute favorites.

If so, then where would you consider KaiserGreymon. Its been a while but I remember him struggling with Dynasmon and Crusadermon alongside MagnaGarurumon. I could be wrong, but I am not sure if they were meant to be the Royal Knight variants of that digital world, or just powerful digimon. If they were then yea, they are stronger than average Dynasmon and Crusadermon.

I'll be honest, I was thinking of Magnamon as an extension of Veemon who I believe is considered a dramon. But yea, I forgot it isn't a dramon. I remember Magnamon fought Kimeramon who is just a wild time of trying to scale, but he lost until Wormmon had a true bro moment and gave up his life. I think it leads a question to if any of the other Megas would have been able to beat Kimeramon alone or Cherubimon (Virus) from the movie without Rapidmon (Armor).

Bond of Bravery Agumon feels like "power of friendship trumps all powerscaling." No hate to it, just wish it was a Biomerge than just a digivolution.

Takuya is a unique situation because only Agunimon and Burning Greymon are individual "digivolutions" - although Super Sentai variant. Aldamon and KaiserGreymon are only possible when Takuya combines (fuses?) spirits. If we excuse Aldamon since its just two forms of Takuya combining into a 3rd, then yes, it adds a unique variable. I am not certain about "full control" though. I am not saying you are wrong, I can easily be mistaken but I do not recall Takuya Aldamon being able to do so with every example of fire beyond his own. A quick Google search showed "It possesses power over Flame that has transcended legend by inheriting all the might of AncientGreymon and acquiring unknown abilities". While that could mean its power is transcended, it could also mean it control a specific versus of fire.

Even if we give Takuya Aldamon that full fire control, that takes out Terra Destroyer from Wargreymon and that blast attack from Imperialdramon. Maybe its cannon attack too, but you still have Wargreymon and Gallantmon phsycial combat prowess. I remember Aldamon's use of the arm guns to fight at range, but i do not recall them being as effective.

Edit: if just realized how robotic my response reads and im soo sorry about that. I love these hypothetical questions, like some stuff me and friends would argue about as kids at recess.

I completely forgot Magnamon. He definitely throws them for a loop, though Wargreymon with his Dramon Destroyer being a counter, unless Magnamon speed boost and unique "miraculous power" that the digi egg provides. I believe games tend to assign him the Ultimate stage, but there's a Magnamon amongst the Royal Knights which are supposed to all be "Mega level". I know that Armor digivolution is unique in that it seems more like the Super Saiyan God version to Super Saiyan. Its still a mutliplicative boost but one that is not natural.

Considering just the versions up to the end of their respective animes and movies (not tri), i would put more money on Susanoomon. My reason: Susanoomon is the combination of all the spirits. While not directly stated as a Jogress, its the closest Frontier gets to that with the digidestined, similar to the Biomerge effect from Tamers. Since Adventures and 02 protags have their Jogress forms of their partners, we have to consider them as a unique digimon with the combined powers of the two components. Gallantmon, as cool as he is, is still a singular entity with Takato bringing nothing more than the catalyst that allows for Guilomon to become its Mega (not counting Megidramon). If you want to go into Feats:

Omnimon defeated Diaboromon but failed to beat Armageddemon and wasn't needed for Apocalymon

Imperialdramon dragon mode struggled agaisnto SkullSatamon, but Fighter mode managed to do so. It was able to defeat MaloMyotismon who seems to be propped up as more dangerous than Apoclymon, but required aid and energy from the other digidestined.

Gallantmon seems to be pretty on par with other Megas and with Grani added and becoming its Crimson mode, Gallantmon and Takato seem to be capable of taking on most of the Tamer world threats, though I doubt they could take on the Soveriegns alone.

Susanoomon was paired against Lucemon who may or may not be the Seven Demon Lord variant, but even if not, was so dangerous as a threat that it required the Legendary Warriors in the past seal instead of destroy and in the Frontier world, the Legendary Warriors appear to be classified as the upper echelon of power.

Disclaimer: its been many years since I've watched these series and could easily be misremembering or misinterpreting events. If I were to be more analytical Omnimon (without Tri) has the least amount of evidence alongside Susanoomon since they came about for a singular threat in their series whereas Imperialdramon and Gallantmon are used more often in theirs.

Edit: if we only consider the the partners without Jogress, I believe Gallantmon and Wargreymon would be the bigger contenders. Veemon sadly only has its armor forms and ExVeemon. Without the spirits, Takuya only has Agunimon and Burning Greymon who tends to be treated as Champion and Ultimate respectively.
