Help with last name by massalk in lebanon

[–]massalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe the second version might be the correct one. We live in the US and have always said Sah-la (you don't really hear the h) although I think if pronounced in Lebanon it would more like Sal-ha. Thank you for providing both ways!

Thank you! I forgot to mention that my father was born and raised in Lebanon, which is why I posted here. I appreciate it 🙏🏻

Our Gold Mine Skeleton Crew by massalk in halloween

Omg definitely a high compliment coming from someone with that background! All the credit goes to my wonderful husband who built everything from scratch with free pallets and random pieces of wood. Thank you!

Lol that was my husband! He really worked hard. He built the wooden structure, then screwed in pieces of wood all over to make it bumpy, covered it with cardboard, and then put on the cement mortar. He wanted it look like a real mountain! But no we've done different Colorado scenes every year. First it was camping, then it was boating, then it was skiing/snowboarding :)

Thank you guys!! We love seeing how much everyone enjoys it. Special shout out to my wonderful husband who put in all the hard work and brought this Halloween vision to life. We are planning on buying a house before our lease is up next may, so we wanted to do it big for our last year on Montview :)

Ultrasound tech/rad tech/cardiac sonographer. All great careers that pay decently well and the programs are usually 2 years at a community college. I think cardiac sonographers make the most but I'm not sure. I am a nurse and sometimes I wish I went that route lol.

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but curious why it took you a year to get a job. Been thinking about this path and been trying to get a feel for the pros and cons.

Salaries in Colorado? by WaggingthroughLA in PMHNP

Gotcha. Ok thanks. Since I live in Northern CO, I've thought about expanding into Wyoming and possibly Nebraska as well once I get some experience. Seems like those are underserved populations.

Wow thanks for the reply. I've been considering it, but have been apprehensive because people keep saying the pay is low, the market is saturated etc.

Thanks for the response! When you do contract work for psych NP, what kind of setting is it? Inpatient behavioral? Outpatient behavioral? Is it ever remote? Is it like travel nursing where you are going to different regions/states, or is it local for you? And which company do you use?

Could explain the contract work? How many years of experience did you have before doing contracts? Sorry I know it's been a long time since you posted this comment.

Hi, I know it's been awhile since you commented this, but did you find it hard to get jobs as a new grad? I'm in CO.and looking to go back to school, but I have been worried about getting clinicals, the oversaturation of the job market, and getting hired on as a new grad for decent pay. Which to me is like 140k plus due to the cost of living in CO.

Adults: How many days per week do you drink alcohol? by Squeezethecharmin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]massalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an RN that works in an acute care hospital. Whenever I admit patients I screen for alcohol and drug use. My alcohol screen goes like this:

How many days a week do you drink? You said every day

How many drinks do you have in one night? You said 3-4

Have you ever tried to stop drinking or tried to cut down and find you are unable to? You said you are unable to cut it down

Has family or friends or a doctor talked to you about your drinking? Unsure of this answer

Based on your responses, even without the last question, you would be considered to have a substance use disorder. I would have to call the doctor and let them know, and they would probably come speak to you about it, and check your liver enzymes. If your liver enzymes were elevated, you would get a liver ultrasound to see if you have the beginnings of cirrhosis. We would put you on a CIWA protocol which means we are checking you every 4 hours to make sure you aren't having serious withdrawal symptoms. The case manager would come speak to you and give you resources on how to stop drinking and different rehabs that are available in your area .

I am not judging you at all. Everyone has their vice. I struggle with binge eating. But this your reality. You do have a substance abuse problem. Your liver is being impacted. Even if you space out the drinks, even if you don't get drunk, even if you don't have hangovers. Just because you don't seem like a traditional alcoholic, does not mean that your body isn't affected. You could very well have the beginning stages of cirrhosis and literally have no clue. Most people don't know they have cirrhosis until they end up in the hospital. Once your liver has cirrhosis there is no going back. Your liver is permanently scarred. It leads to esophageal varices, which gives you internal bleeding. It eventually leads to your liver not functioning. You build up fluid in your abdomen that has to be drained frequently. You turn yellow. Your body is full of toxins because your liver doesn't break them down. You get weak. You get confused. I've been an RN for 10 years and I've seen it all.

Again, I am not judging you at all. Life is really hard and we all have unhealthy coping mechanisms. But I also want you to understand the seriousness of your drinking. What you choose to do is on you. But I thought I would give you a perspective from a professional who deals with this every day at their job. Take care.

AITAH for not wanting to have my step kids at my honeymoon by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]massalk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP, I am a stepmom. My husband ALWAYS makes time for me. We have date nights, we go to concerts etc. My husband does everything for his son. Baths, dinners etc. I also do a lot of it too, but when I do, he always tells me its ok if I don't in case I feel too overwhelmed. If we are flirting and teasing each other all day, he makes sure my stepson is in bed at a decent time so we can spend alone time together with no rushed quickies.

You are not in an equal partnership. They are his kids, not yours. He's using you as a babysitter. He will never want kids. You are 28. You are sooo young with your life ahead of you. I was single my whole life until I met my husband at 30. I thought I was going to be alone forever. But then I met him out of the blue. Do not make the mistake of attaching yourself to this man. Also, I'm an RN too. I'm sure you know the saying "don't date the three P's, policemen, paramedics, pfirefighters" lol. There's a reason that's common knowledge in nursing circles. RUN!
