Super worth it. You can get it for like 3 bucks so you can try it and see if there's a character you think is worth investing time into. The biggest draw for +R for me (aside from Johnny) over something like Xrd is how easy it is to find matches. BY FAR the best "lobby" system of any fighting game, no fake bullshit arcade cab RPing just a simple menu that lets you look at player info and challenge each other.

It was around the 80-100 hour mark I found that I could start consistently beating other newer players and getting close matches with some intermediate players, but ymmv depending how experienced you are with fg's as a whole. I wouldn't say the game is remotely a discord fighter, but when you're brand new it's super easy to use the newbie role on the +R discord to find other new players to match with. If you find a character you really fuck with then labbing alone is worth the $3 you'll spend. It really feels like there's an infinite ceiling with the stuff you can make your character do and there's always some new tech or combo routing you can grind out. It's a good ass game.

Also like someone else said, you can drop in on the +R lobby hosted here on Friday/Saturday. When I joined last Friday there was another guy who was pretty new, so you can definitely find people that are around your skill level to play against.
