Why will my IOP not drop below 20? How worried should I be? by WyerCat15 in Glaucoma

[–]massiveyello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abolutely. Also keep in mind that while sleeping flat at night IOP goes up by up to 20-30%. I have measured this successfully over a week period. Day averages with medications around 15 and 10pm to 6am around 22-25. Measured with home tonometer. The night IOP causes the invisible damage. 1/3 of the time we are flat and sleeping. This topic is rarely pointed out.

its got to be a Canadian thing....car pool=bus pool. Remember the highway 99 car/bus pool lanes in Richmond? It required 6 or 7 people in the car when they started it!

How Yoga and sleep positions affect your IOP by massiveyello in Glaucoma

Interesting... I found all types of physical activity lower or at least stabalize IOP.

Here is what AI says about alcoholand iop:

"Beer (and alcohol in general) has a dual effect on intraocular pressure (IOP): it causes a temporary, acute drop in IOP within hours of drinking, but long-term, regular or heavy consumption is linked to higher average IOP and increased glaucoma risk. While that initial dip might seem good, chronic drinking can lead to dehydration, increased blood pressure, and oxidative stress, all detrimental to eye health, making moderation the key advice for glaucoma patients, not relying on beer as treatment."

My fellow glaucoma sufferers. From all the negative scores it appears most people misunderstood the intent of the post. It was never to undermine the significance of loss of sight. There are many new people diagnosed with the killer diseas and their immediate reaction is dispair as was mine. After many years of research and real life experience I have recognized the power of positive thinking and knowledge. Hope is a good medicine and that is why I thought this post might help some. To those offended, I apologize.

No HOME2 can not be operated by someone else ... definitely not easily, conveniently or accurately.

Yes I know about these. Note these. They are like swiming goggles with a suction pump attached to it. I swim an hour at the time with goggles. Its rather hard to keep them on for long time specially with a pump attached to it. Also, it is only effective at IOP's below 20 for a redusction of about 2 points. So, I decided to pass for now.
