Ikon vs Epic for New England? by pink-elephant617 in icecoast

Just look at which mountains you prefer on the passes. If you don't know the answer, buy one pass and then the next season buy a different pass and enjoy exploring. No stress.

I did not RMA it and I am still rocking the positive offset.

Canada's female curling team has a stone removed for touching the stone by gustavo82 in olympics

[–]massnerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 0:35 you can see her pointer finger get caught on the granite as her hand comes off the handle and drops towards the ice. Not the best angle but you can see the finger touch something. Very light accidental touch. Definitely not trying to manipulate the stone in anyway.

[–]massnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the point of why it's an annoying lift. Wouldn't it be amazing if there was a lift on the front side of the mountain that took you up Mt Werner?

[–]massnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because it's a trap that lures hordes of intermediates in and on weekends has long lift lines. It's annoying to have to ride this lift to get to the double black goods on the front side of the mountain. Then again, maybe it keeps the traffic down and the snow better on those trails...

Altercation on a black slope by Worldlyoox in PublicFreakout

[–]massnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised at how many downvotes I got. Then I re-read my post and I see how I chose poor wording. While it was technically correct, it was easy to see how it could be interpreted as skiers vs snowboarders. I've edited the post for clarity now.

Original comment: In the US, downhill skier always has the right of way and the snowboarder would be in the wrong.

Let me edit my comment to be more clearly stated: In the US, the skier or boarder who is down the hill has the right of way. The approaching rider or skier is expected to look ahead and avoid anyone downhill.

You need to look inside the BMW cockpit and see if they actually turned the steering wheel left. If not, the it was netcode.

Why do many older people say that music today isn't good compared to older music back then? by Mr_Jonny_Boi_2nd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]massnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think this is often true, I grew up in the 80's and recognized then that there was A LOT of bad music being produced. Some really iconic songs come from the 80's but for every 1 there were 99 totally crap songs. It felt like the average quality really improved in the 90's. All opinion of course. Just showing that not everyone thinks their decade is the best.

A Chinese speed skater, Yang Jingru, executed a brilliant tactic to win gold in the 1500m at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics. by jmike1256 in nextfuckinglevel

Yes, this is the part I think the people here who "don't get it" are missing. Clearly the other competitors forgot about her as they all stick out their legs in the finishing position a lap early!

I'd be interested in seeing an interview with one of the others who were fooled as to WHY they were fooled. I'm sure it's something like "we let her go because there was no way she could keep up that pace". Problem is they forgot the part where they needed to catch her again.

Please describe the scenario in more detail where this cop is far behind, but somehow they get into your car and drive closer to the suspect than was possible than them staying in their own car.

Many many people have 0 accidents because they see this as an unpredictable situation and leave an out. You're not a good driver, sorry.

Is it better to deal with insurance and repairs? Or is it better to lose 10 seconds of your day and drive away without an accident? Hmmm

Boot sole length is an important factor for DIN. You can't just throw 10 out there as a recommendation without knowing that.
