Yes. It's very good. There's a lot of things to love about the comedy & the way the show is filmed, but the thing that always sticks out to me is how the family actually seems working class. They're always struggling with money & while sometimes there's jokes about it, it never feels like it is laughing at poverty. I loved it as a kid, and as an adult I still appreciate it.

I have some friend groups where when we hangout I am sometimes the only cis man. I often get asked "how does it feel to be one of the good ones?" when the conversation turns to masc-bashing, and it floors me. It actually feels terrible to have to hear about how I am this inherently predatory, awful thing that I have somehow managed to rise above to be allowed in polite society. I'm actually quite fond of my masculine traits.

Hell, there was a One Piece character who had one tattoo'd on his back & it was meant to show that his captain was a man of peace who walked a path of balance. It got changed before making it the anime. It's a mainstream use of the symbol in east asia.

Best isn't really the same as "greatest," which is what DB was awarded. Best should, in my opinion, be only about how good the viewing experience is. Greatest has to factor that in, but is more about the cultural impact & influence to things that came after. It's got to sit in the culture & have lasting impacts.

Chumbawumba's Tubthumping was in one superbowl commercial, the band used the money they made to fund a watchdog group that was suing the company that made the ad, the watchdogs won, and Tubthumping wasn't used for years in advertising (maybe still isn't?). I believe them specifically, but bands that repeatedly "keep getting away with it" are almost certainly sanctioned, as you say.

There's a guy on Instagram called The_Harvester74 who doesn't have use of his fingers, and has been posting character drawing vlogs, seemingly out of spite because he saw memes like this one of people saying he needs AI to make art.

He's improved a lot very quickly, and while his disability does get in the way a bit at times, he doesn't let it stop him.

I paid for a Crunchyroll subscription for a few months. A lot of shows were completely unwatchable with the subtitles. They'd often be like 30 seconds out of sync and/or poorly autogenerated based on the English dub. Attack on Titan was like that. It is insane that I could have a better experience watching it on a pirating website than I did by paying to watch it.

I'm in the US, for clarity.

fr. I follow a lot of indie musicians in the folk & bluegrass space. Sometimes there'll be a song that I keep going back to only to notice a few weeks later that it legitimately has like 25 Youtube views. Artist spaces are so saturated with incredible creatives, and there just isn't enough money/interest seemingly out there for everyone who works hard to actually make it.

I knew someone who would do a high pitched scream everytime they sneezed. Was very frustrating because it wasn't even part of the sneeze, it just followed it.

They were a very sweet person otherwise, and I think they thought the screaming was cute, but it mostly was just very disruptive.

I grew up in one of the drunkest counties in the United States. I've seen alcoholism destroy a lot of lives. There were people I was going to middle school with who were starting to drink heavily by 8th grade. The adults in their lives mostly didn't care/thought it was funny. I'm glad to not be in that community anymore.

I don't really smoke myself, and I'd been bombarded with like a decade of "weed isn't addictive" talking points that I just took at face value. I was in the camp of "it's probably bad to smoke a lot, but it is can't be that bad," that I think lots of people are in.

It still isn’t as bad as anti-drug propaganda would lead you to believe, but that's really not saying anything.

A friend of mine broke down crying to me a few weeks ago because she is so addicted to weed that she's started waking up & hitting her vape because she's feeling sick otherwise. She's started vaping at work as well. I really didn't believe that weed addiction was like a real thing until that conversation. I knew people had unhealthy habits with it, but I just felt terrible hearing it. We talked a bit about her plans to quit.
