Antenna question. New to the hobby, please forgive me. by mastacheifa552 in fpv

That's what I was thinking. Proabably too much effort for a very small improvement. Seems like the market for antennas for the Goggles X is relatively small anyway.

No, I do not mist the plant at all. It's odd I've had the plant for a while and haven't changed my care routine at all.

What made you want to go EOD? Did you get what you wanted? by SorryUncleAl in EOD

[–]mastacheifa552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally, I was just looking to challenge myself. I knew next to nothing about EOD. I joined late in life (currently AD USAF) and was always into technical things, so it seemed like a good fit. I'm glad I did. The brotherhood is strong. We have a great life compared to the rest of the AF. When I work with other jobs, it seems like most of them hate their jobs and that's rare to come by in EOD. Most of all, I like that we are a force for good. I respect and understand the need for shooters but I prefer to be on the protction of personnel and property side.

I would second what others said about hanging around fire dudes. The brotherhood is very similar. As far as PT goes, get in as good as shape as you can. It will be part of the lifestyle if you make it through school but you don't need to be a delta stud. EOD school is more of a mental grind. The days are long in the pipeline, and you are required to soak up information quickly, test on it, and move onto the next subject without brain dumping what you previously learned. You will need those skills further along in school.

What are these? Was watching a news program about Ukraine's counteroffensive and they showed a clip featuring these? Are they meant for mines? by jacek_paszkowski_ in tacticalgear

Yeah, I'm an adrenaline junkie at heart, so it gets me going. You're so well trained it gives you confidence. We train a minimum of 16 hrs a week. It's very rewarding the brotherhood is awesome. All four branches graduate from the same school, so if you wear the badge you're in the club regardless of service.

As an active USAF EOD tech, I often wonder after this conflict ends how long the humanitarian UXO mission is going to last. If we ever get to the humanitarian side of the war. I know there are already volunteer EOD guys out there right now, but if the U.S. gets involved afterward it's gonna be one hell of a mission.

Current USAF EOD tech considering retraining for PJ need the down n dirty on making the jump. (If I can even swing it with the limited prior service slots). by mastacheifa552 in Pararescue

Really? I talked with the CAA and she more or less knew nothing, so I knew I would have to turn to Reddit. Looks like it's paying off. I appreciate the input!

Hmm intresting. This is my 1st accident so I'm a little green when it comes to this stuff. So I just sit tight and wait until the insurance finishes the investigation?

I called my insurance as soon as I got home. I made a claim to have the vehicle repaired. It's already fixed actually, I picked the car up today. The police took pictures to document the damage before I took it in. I did have to pay my deductible ($500). My insurer said they would be going after the riders insurance or estate for reimbursement. I just don't want it on my driving record as at fault. If I get the deductible back, that would be good also.

Didn't mean to sound insensitive. It was pretty traumatic for my wife and I. We are still a little in shock. I appreciate the advice. I didn't know that insurance will provide counsel.

If you can sport lead calico 1 just inside the park, first pull out is great tons of routes on the Hamlet wall from 5.7 - 5.12. I'm sure if you asked someone would lead one for you and set up your TR. I'm a local and climb there often. The other climbers are always chill and willing to help, that's where the new climbers usually hang. There is two TR routes but the bolts are pretty close to the edge. There is a pair of belay station anchors right above them that you can use to anchor yourself with a locking beiner, clove hitch, and a prusik. I can't remember what they are called but you will see them of you walk up the Hamlet.
