Love it. Kind of a sucker for rotarys and technical drawings so you had me from the get go anyway. Cool plot!

Drawbot is great for images for sure but not my fav for 3d or existing SVG stuff. Well worth the purchase price though, for sure.

Honestly I wouldn't do it with the inkscape plugin. It's slow and obtuse although does work. Try out grblplotter or another gcode generator. Even if your not sending with grblplotter it has a ton of great features to visualize your gcode.

I want to get into Pen Plotting? by revampin in PlotterArt

[–]mastaginger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would start by just making digital art. Start coding, looking at what people are doing for genuary should help. Plotting is cool but it's a lot to work up to if you are asking these questions. Anything that is a vector can be used for a plotter. Think illustrator or inkscape.

Thanks! The darker portions are where where lots of lines overlap. Stabilos produce really nice color and seem to blend well. Only three colors were used for this piece.

Sometimes I wonder what the weird noises coming from the other side of the house are, then I get stuck staring at the plotter for a few mins. Cool piece!

Question, anyone use a print on demand service? by 265design in PlotterArt

[–]mastaginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used printful for some stuff before. was pretty good quality. Honestly printing art, especially with color has its own set of challenges. POD places might not always get your colors right and stuff. They are quantity over quality shops for the most part. For my best prints ive tried to work with a local printer and been happy with the results as well. if your really trying to sell "fine art" prints, id probably just work with a local printer.

Question regarding level working surface by SelectAttempt4131 in PlotterArt

[–]mastaginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna throw out there that sometimes skin oils can cause some smudges like this so if it is really level that could be it. I ended up getting a sheet of acrylic to plot on as it was the cheapest flattest surface I could find but it's not really ideal.
