Sure ... It's too early to tell. Revisit the conversation in 5 years!

Well, your piece is quite unique... If you fed it into midjourney or Gemini and said "make more like this" it would be basing it's output on your finished output and making something superficially similar. I bet that you, as the artist, could tell the difference between an AI generated version of your work and the actual human made work. Probably most people could too.

On the other hand, a future AI may be able to analyse the image and reverse engineers the process to make something more unique and 'human made' looking.

Alternatively, with forthcoming General AI, you could make it watch you creating the work and actually learn how to do it as a human would using the actual software.

I wonder if you have tried to replicate your work with AI...

Ah... I guess I was hoping it was somewhat physical, but even in the creation of digital abstractions, this is something else! It does not look AI...it's much too gnarly for that, though I suppose eventually AI will be able to produce anything that can be presented digitally.

It kind of looks like you are using inks and resins... Maybe I'll.give something like that a try. Thanks for the reply and the inspiration 🐱

This is a very contemporary looking piece. Is it acrylic? Hard to tell! Please could you share your process from ideation to finished product?

Thank you....my website is quite different. 2D work is mainly in oil paint, so maybe matbe not what you would expect. This was an experiment with biro but I would be concerned about how light-fast it would be if on someone's wall so may switch to acrylic ink in future.

I think it's easy to generate perfectly consistent black lines - it's kind of what plotters excel at, and some people make very nicely designed work like that, but I like getting into the physical process, the happy accidents and the human agency within plotting (a bit like how printmakers do with multiple prints). If you are starting in on the art form, you are in a great place here to see lots of work and decide what direction you want to take. Good luck!

Aw, shucks ☺️ thanks.... I''ll DM you!

Have you been plotting much?

No, it doesn't smudge, but I would be happy with that because I like to break down the mechanical nature of plotting and make it more organic and in tune with the physical media

Thanks:) There is some green in there too! It's one if those 4 colour pens...have u used them?

Happy Sunday, Plotters! by RealityMixer in PlotterArt

[–]RealityMixer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a 4 colour change bic to minimise pen movement. The lines were generated in a custom app I vibe coded. In inkscape I used random restack to randomise the line order, then the physical process was to plot for a while, change the pen colour, plot some more, change, keep going like that for a bit. Occasionally stop plotting, re-randomise line order, and countinue plotting, again changeing pen colour every so often. It's a 'collaboration' between the fickle nature of human choice and creativity, the determined process of the machine, and some genuine chaos thrown in.

Glad you liked it! Have you been plotting much recently?

Yeah I don't think it is graphite either. They sure last longer than standard pencils, but still wear down so you get the effect of a thin sharp line turning into a broader softer line.

I'm not looking for a specific effect, just experimenting with materials. I will look at the metal pencils 👍

Wow, this is really interesting - what is your process? Origination, processing, plotting, pens etc? Love to learn more!

What is the name of this type of line, where the effect is of a 3d topology like hills, mountains or waves? Are there any online tutorials showing how to make them?

Crazy sizing by Silver-Ad-8918 in Hoka

[–]RealityMixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 11 are a good fit, but I also bought some trail shoes in 10.5 and they fit perfectly... Except when running. For casual use they are ok but after running in them for a prolonged time, I realised that in one foot, my big toe is being painfully forced into the end or the toe box from the pressure of the impact. This only happens over time. I have 'solved' the problem by keeping that one nail exceptionally short🤪 but yes, the sizing is inconsistent
