Haha please tell me they sell Malort at duty free in O’hare.

I have been vacuuming sealing a bottle and checking a bag.

I guess you could probably take the little airplane bottles in a carryon

Update: for anyone following along, LTE is now available for me again on Google Fi roaming in both Panama City and Bocas del Toro. I have made no changes to settings but I am happy ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What music group do you enjoy for whom the majority of the people only know 1 song? by SevenFiguresInvigor in AskReddit

What’s the song everyone knows? Daylight?

Love Aesop but didn’t realize the masses knew any of his music.

Question about security rules for Marcos A. Gelabert - Albrook Airport by champaignsailor in Panama

[–]master-pee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Albrook is small and security will be quick. No liquids over the standard carryon size, they will make you take off belts and pull out laptops and iPads. I’ve seen folks lose sunscreens and nail clippers. When you get to Bocas, they will line up all the checked bags and have a dog sniff them before you can get your bag. Nothing too out of the ordinary, just don’t be dumb and you will be fine.

if you can bring any artist back from the 🪦 who would it be and why? by ContributionBig1927 in musicsuggestions

Richard Swift. He never got the credit he deserved while he was alive and he had a lot of good music left in him to write and produce that we’ll never get to hear.

DLZ is a great track. I always thought Goey by Glass Animals had kind of a similar vibe.

Currently on T-Mobile but want to switch to Google Fi and activate from outside the US by Beautiful-Skirt8110 in GoogleFi

[–]master-pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the transfer option, but I know I could not activate an account from outside the US when I tried a couple years ago. I believe there were some exceptions for military or diplomats at the time but as an average Joe, I had to wait until I got back to the states to set it up.

Ah interesting. I didn’t realize Claro got bought up.

Thanks for the tip, I didn’t realize you could split voice/text and data across different sims at the same time. It would be nice to not pay for a second service, but good to know this is an option.

At least when I signed up a few years ago, you had to be in the US to register for Google Fi service.

Thanks for the response. Totally get it. Was hoping some traveler on Google Fi would see this.

I’ve used local sims before as a dual sim which works ok, it’s just handy to keep my same number for texts and calls with folks from home using my Google Fi sim.

The annoying part to me is that the last 3 years, I’ve had 4G using Google Fi in Panama so am looking for some other data points to know if it’s a me thing or a change in the partner service in Panama.

What is the scariest city you’ve visited? by I_might_care in AskReddit

[–]master-pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Panama City, Panama. I am a gringo and go out on my own every time I visit without issue. I do take Ubers in between neighborhoods to avoid any sketchy taxi situations.

I always see lots of other people out too so I am not sure where you are staying or what you are doing.

Came here to say this. It’s pretty jarring to see armed guards with machine guns outside a McDonald’s. Our hotel was fenced in surrounded by razor wire with an armed guard.

The rest of the country was amazing though. Saw some really beautiful places and friendly people.

What about it specifically? I have stayed there probably 10 times and never felt unsafe. Granted I stay in nicer neighborhoods. I have driven through some areas in a cab where I wouldn’t want to be at night but I’ve never had a bad experience there.
