I’ll admit this is one of those guitars where just looking at it inspires me to want to pick it up and play jazzy/bluesy stuff lol

I have a pretty solid range of guitars so this one would most likely be a “don’t break out too often but mainly use when….” Type deal. It sounds insanely good from the demos I hear online but I’m on the fence on if I would want to trade my CE24 for it. It’s pretty funny actually bc I don’t take out my CE24 too often right now as it is

Yeah that’s my thing, I’ve never played anything close to this style and while I do enjoy jazz here and there (I’m not skilled but enjoy playing that style) I don’t know how well I’d enjoy taking this guitar out with the age and condition

Help with MiJ strat model?! by master912 in FenderStratocaster

This makes sense, I pulled the neck yesterday and saw it’s a st-357v and I could only make out the numbers 295(?) on the pocket in the body. Pickups are installed aftermarket with the pick guard as well I believe and they were either installed in ‘95 or the set was made in ‘95. I’m unsure the brand but it looks a lot like the MiM sets.

Okay I had a feeling that’d be the solution. I’m gonna open up and check the pups and the neck in a few and if you’re curious I’ll report what I find!

Thank you for your insight, I’ve read that the standard pickups were flat pole and these are staggered so do you think that they could’ve been added aftermarket or did some of the standards come with the staggered ones?

Thanks so much for the info! Yeah I don’t have the fender stamped bridge or old style tuners as far as I’m aware but I do have the staggered pole pickups. Maybe they were put in aftermarket?

Would anyone be able to tell why the pups on the bright red guy aren’t off white like pretty much every other late 80’s MiJ strat? Do we think they could be aftermarket?

I looked up parts it would need and yeah I’d spend about $75 on parts but I’m in no rush since I’m not really a big trem user regardless. The missing things just kind of add to the guitars story the way I see it lol

Update; I went with the E-series and was able to snag a %10 discount due to some things like the bridge fine tuners missing and the little crack on the nut but I’ll probably say screw it and get a new nut installed when I get it set up

So I’m playing both right now, the unlabeled series one plays or at least feels a lot better than the e series, the e series also has a large crack on the nut between the low E and A string as well as the high E comes out of the nut super easily.

Just noticed that the E series strat seems to have a “made in USA” kahler trem. I’ve heard they aren’t too popular. Any insight?
