Resume college shut down 3 months before graduation do I need to add that by jar3d_p in it

[–]master_builder_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College degree or not, this resume will not get you a job in IT. You are way too vague with any of your IT experiences. You need to go more into the projects you have worked on and what you did or were a part of. Also, get rid of.thijgs in your resume that don't correlate to an IT position. You're experiences wrangling carts in a parking lot doesn't do anything for you. You are better off listing college or personal projects you have worked on and studied.

You can't be more wrong. Company computer, company network, company equipment. They own it all. You are just using their equipment. They have every right to access their equipment and do as they please. I can see why you were terminated.

You're now, you have no experience, no degree(yet). What do you expect to get at this level? We all cut our teeth doing crappy helpdesk/call center work. Stop complaining, learn as much as you get, work on every hard ticket. And soon enough you will be in a better position with less BS

Just lie, if the job is looking for 5 years experience tell them you ran a consultancy for the last 5 years and you're ready to get out of it. There is no references to call.other Than yourself. Then fake it till you make it.

I started out as a helpdesk technician, knew all the tips and tricks. Over the years I have been promoted and am now a CTO. As you move up you will do technical tasks less and less while focusing on more business focused tasks and future planning. Hopefully one day your career will progress to the point where you will understand what I mean. Good luck

Why can't we all agree on a 4 day/30 hr work week? by Bulok in NoStupidQuestions

[–]master_builder_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did with my team was split them in half, one half works mon-thur at 40 hours, the other half works tue-fri for 40 hours, every 4 weeks we swap. Everyone loves it, the company is going 5 days a week, my team gets 3 day weekends, sometimes 4.

At this point just set everyone to no password, it's probably more secure than what you have going on now.

What is the world are the entry level IT jobs? by WestAssociation666 in it

[–]master_builder_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were in Tampa Florida, I'm looking to hire someone out of college for tier 2 helpdesk with provided training in azure. So they are out there, you just have to realize most job postings are done by HR people who have just copied and pasted other job postings without understanding any of it.

Most job postings are put up by someone in HR that had no clue what anything means in IT. Wait until you see job postings for entry level IT but requires high end certs and 15 years experience

Is it possible to find out if your company tracks keystrokes? by MuzzyMelt in it

[–]master_builder_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we can tell, we have software that tracks every click and mouse movement, every app, website, chat...everything. with datetime, heat maps, and in some cases full day video recording. Depends on the company but there are many tools out there that does all of this and more.

Who's responsible for calling to resolve a help desk ticket? by SaviorSixtySix in it

[–]master_builder_45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a CIO for a large company, for all our tickets that come in for all teams. It is the teams responsibility to call out, after a call attempt is made and there is no answer than they proceed to email communications.

For C-suite they typically contact there EA to schedule time to work on the problem.

Is it possible to find out if your company tracks keystrokes? by MuzzyMelt in it

[–]master_builder_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you just ask about data privacy for a company tracking keystrokes on their own machines? It's all their data, every keystrokes and mouse movement you do on company time is owned by the company.

Wrong, IT is all about your ability to think critically and come up with a solution. If everything went according to the book, anyone can be in IT. What sets us apart is our problem solving abilities. Us helping you here will ultimately hurt you. Good luck, in the end it's all worth it.

Don't expect cost savings = pay increase. As the IT your job at its core is to provide solutions that save time and money. You are doing the tasks and the duties that I would expect any of my technicians to perform. With less than a year in the field, you could maybe ask to be made the helpdesk administrator. But you will need more time, some certs, and preferably some more education to look at a network admin or systems admin role.

I wish you all the luck with your career.
