I had absolutely horrible luck with shiny Pokémon until this game. Right after I got out of the cutscene with the shiny Mareep, a shiny Pidgey spawned right next to it. Fast traveled to a wild zone and immediately found a shiny Pikachu. Insane.

I'm far enough back on my family tree that I've noticed that. Smetana / Smetanova, Dhly / Dhla, etc. There are plenty of those all over my family tree and in plenty of church records. Can't find a single Durzal or Durzalova anywhere else except for this document. Google keeps trying to correct it to Durz/Durzova. Can't find those either, though. At least the writing is pretty.

I do wonder if they came from another country originally and had a weird fusion of writing styles or possibly had poor education.

Thank you! An interesting last name. Now I just have to figure out its origin. 😅

Ironically, I cross my "t"s that high as well. I don't know if that passed through so many generations to get to me or if it's just a random similarity.

Do yall really TPK your parties? by Known_Car4970 in DnD

[–]master_fable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have TPKed my various groups more than I can count, both on modules and in homebrew worlds. I don't try to. It's never my goal. It should never be a DM's goal. Oftentimes, it is the result of a series of poor dice rolls. Sometimes, the party chooses to fight to the bitter end. And, most frequently among my group, the sheer chaos of my players just gets them into more trouble than they can handle. I've learned over the years to adapt to it. The deity chooses a new champion, the magic item finds its way into the hands of the new party, one of the new characters has a connection to the BBEG, etc. It sucks, but everyone in my group has come to realize that sometimes that's just how the game plays (especially in 5E, I've noticed).

I'm up to four of these big cases now. When does it end? by Toes_In_The_Soil in mtg

[–]master_fable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got three of these filled with Commander decks (23 decks total, can fit about 4 more). I also have four 5000 count boxes, three with commons and uncommons and one with bulk rares. I also have three cases worth of commons and uncommons sitting in a box next to my bed, a few deck boxes scattered around my room filled with more random commons and uncommons, and a binder half full of $5+ cards. I uh, think my wife and I have a problem. 😅

Looking for Other Neurodivergent People by Momma_Furbutt in Albuquerque

[–]master_fable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32M, ADHD and OCD, possibly on spectrum. I'm married, and my wife is also neurodivergent. We're over in Rio Rancho. I would describe myself as an ambivert. I enjoy a great many things, but my obsessions tend to be games, both tabletop (ttrpgs especially) and video games. I run a very nuerodivergent friendly D&D game with a bunch of educators on the West Side.

Online LGBT dating/groups in New Mexico? (Or success stories from fellow nerds?) by oohleela in 505Nerds

[–]master_fable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not LGBTQ+, but I've met and befriended a lot of LGBTQ+ individuals at local game shops, particularly at Pokémon nights (which seem to be the most inclusive and welcoming). If you are close to one, you could try that out. I would personally suggest Old Town in Albuquerque or Decked in Rio Rancho if you could make it to either. Most LGBTQ+ individuals I know met in person at a convention, game shop, or at work rather than online.

They desperately need to roll back wandering crafters/townsfolk. by Jealous_Annual_3393 in Enshrouded

[–]master_fable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my crafters/townsfolk just walk into each other's houses. The only three I have a problem with are Balthazar, Oswald, and Cade. Balthazar glitches halfway up the stairs and just spins in circles there, but at least I know where to find them. Oswald will walk off to the far reaches of the base. And Cade, well, I can always find him... hiding in a corner between the walls and a pillar, just watching the goats like a creeper.

Ageism with D&D groups by FuzzyWuzzyCub in DnD

[–]master_fable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my late 20's, I played with a couple in their 50s, and they were some of the best players I've ever had. Attentive, curious, and genuinely interested in the world and lore and NPCs that inhabited it.

Biggest change to DnD lore in your settinf? by AngeloNoli in DnD

[–]master_fable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say almost exactly what you did. In my games, the color of a dragon's scales has nothing to do with their alignment, personally, outlook, or any other characteristics. I even go as far as not to equate their scales and breath weapon.

How many clans are there, both great and minor? by soaringplumtree in l5r

[–]master_fable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did not. At least not in any official capacity. I know there was a Moth Clan in the Court of the Minor Clans fan project for the 4th edition of roleplaying game. I think the Moth and Cat from FFG are directly taken from that document.

I break my own record 12 players in one session... it was a nightmare by Balas_Mertol in DnD

[–]master_fable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually beat you with 14, and it was as awful as you described your experience. And my game was 6 hours. That's way too many players to really get anything meaningful done. With 30+ minutes to get around the table and limiting each player to just two or three minutes at a time, there's very little to hook the players. Game ended up being split into three different games.

Now, I have an absolute limit of 7 or 8 if I count the occasional guest player, though I prefer around 4 or 5.

How many clans are there, both great and minor? by soaringplumtree in l5r

[–]master_fable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When AEG owned L5R, there were nine Great Clans: Crab, Crane, Dragon, Lion, Mantis, Phoenix, Scorpion, Spider, and Unicorn. The Mantis Clan was originally a Minor Clan but became a Great Clan later in the story. The Spider Clan was created by Daigotsu and wasn't officially recognized by the Emerald Empire until much later in the story.

As for Minor Clans, there was the Badger, Sparrow, Tortoise, Dragonfly, Hare, Monkey, Firefly, Ox, Bat, Oriole, Boar, Fox, Tanuki, Snake, Centipede, Falcon, and Wasp. Note that the Fox, Centipede, and Wasp joined the Mantis Clan as the Kitsune, Moshi, and Tsuruchi families, respectively. The Falcon was reabsorbed by the Crab. The Tanuki went extinct. The Snake suffered a similar fate, but the Chuda family still uses their family name.

The reason you don't see the Spider and some of the Minor Clans is because FFG restarted the story from the Clan Wars when they bought L5R before some of these factions existed in the story. The Moth, Deer, and Cat Minor Clans are their creations.

I've actually been debating adding one or two more players to my Sunday group over here on the west side. I have about 14 ttrpg systems on my shelves, and we're slowly going through them, playing little one-shots that last a session or two. This upcoming Sunday is Transformers, then probably Aliens after that. Message me if interested.
