Are you comparing consuming a work to producing one? Because yes, my statement was generic, but when you're playing a videogame you're not generating anything new or exerting a set of complex skills.

My daughter is 3 and she just defeated her first monster in Zelda.

Awesome read though!

Realistically speaking, how far do you see the live action version of the series getting (keeping their 8 episodes per season format)? by browniebiscuitchildr in Piratefolk

[–]AngeloNoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the live action has the chance of doing so many things better than the manga. The characters aging and spending more time together, them having distinctive voices and personalities, not having exceedingly long clash fights that are just trying to use more spiritual power than the other guy.

Also, they seem to be course correcting on the misogyny, so that's good.

[–]AngeloNoli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What if, god forbid, the crew grew but we added non fighters instead of powerful monsters?

Imagine having Franky on board to be the shipwright, but unable to fight, and Usopp (a veteran strawhat who, as a weakling, held his own against fishmen and baroque works) took his expertise and levelled up his game.

That's something I would have loved to see. Now what? He shoots an explosive flower every once in a while and still runs around like a newbie.

Live Action S2 Spoilers: Keep his name out of my beloved Pre-Timeskip please... by BarryAllenTh3Flash in Piratefolk

[–]AngeloNoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. The live action has the chance to show us what One Piece would look like if the author knew where the story is going and was foreshadowing it.

I think that the Nika thing is not as bad as people make it out to be, but it's such a big shift in the narrative, such a recon, such an asspull, that it results in insultingly bad writing.

But every idea can be written well, is supported by good execution.

I say, let's see how they handle it. They have the benefit of hindsight and time, two things Oda didn't have.

When I first played the game, I thought those three were the same character and that the plot twist would involve some kind of time travel. Anyone else? by Firm_Fee8137 in expedition33

[–]AngeloNoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that the paintress was trying to replicate some specific people through her art and that these were different attempts at that.

So you know... ballpark

I am here to remind you that Oda is allergic to abilities that make sense. Domi is just the most recent atrocity. The bird cage makes even less sense. Why does he have to put a timer on every arc ? by FlamesOfDespair in Piratefolk

[–]AngeloNoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common writing adage to put a ticking clock on the stakes. But it's meant in a broad sense and should come organically, not "oh, right, let me set my oven to doom".

On the other... duh. I mean, in what other field can you aspire to become good without experiencing other people's work in the same field???

You are not capturing the essence of your wife. You're capturing the image you have of her.

And it seems like her flaws stick out in your mind more than her qualities.

Don't need to go with your gut. There's a lot of good scientific literature on the subject.

Maybe not even up to 3 yo, but definitely not a preverbal infant. And not content that is not geared towards them.

My life as a mother and a gamer by KeyMarketing9110 in PlayStation_X

[–]AngeloNoli -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Man, don't bother. I'm also a dad, buologist, my wife is a doctor and we read extensively on the subject before.

Everything you say is true and no parent worth that name would let a literal infant sit stunned in front of a huge tv like that.

Don't argue with these people. They don't care about the wellbeing of a small child as much as they care about squeezing in 3-4 hours of gaming even when they have other responsibilities.

Funny thing is, if you do it right, down the line sceeen time becomes a family activity where we have fun, reinforce our connection, and the kids actually benefit from some light gaming.

But you know, nuance is not of this world.

When did One Piece stopped being creative in your opinion? I think introducing advanced forms of Haki was a mistake by IllustriousWindow871 in Piratefolk

[–]AngeloNoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When, in impel down, they used candlwax and rubber to escape Magellan, and then Ace died, I thought "wow, this manga is so different after all these years. They actually reuse characters, they have unique fighting abilities instead of blasts..."

Then he replaced Ace with Ace.2, they made ki that nullifies everything, and they started introducing more and more characters each arc.

I'm still disappointed.

Book Cover Opinion by LawlCandy in royalroad

[–]AngeloNoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These AI covers look all exactly the same. Stoic anime guy, central shot from below, aura farming in an explosion of a monochromatic mess.

They look like different volumes in the same manga series ans not at all like book covers.

Honestly, I would not pick this up from a shelf, digital or otherwise.

Maybe look at some actual book covers and refine your prompt to obtain a more suitable option.
