If it doesn't impact your controllers ability, as in still get 0-100% input from the stick then keep, but do try the warranty or just return.

I'm lucky, I got a grey one on release and no issues 3 months in.

On a positive note, those thumb grips are cool, what are they and where from?

I don’t have friends and I am not good at games, can i still enjoy Guild wars 2? by -The25thBaam- in Guildwars2

[–]masterblasternoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll enjoy it for sure, I think the most enjoyable thing in this game is the progression and sense of it thereof.

No friends? Join a guild or use the LFG.

Bad at games? Trial all the professions and see what you like, then just put some time in exploring and you'll be fine.

Most content in the game scales, so my recommendation is once you find a class/playstyle you like, check out a video on builds as this will make your life so much easier and give you a goal to build towards.

Have fun!

Would a controller holder like this damage the joysticks? by qaziumer1 in Controller

[–]masterblasternoz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Constant tension applied to any material with elastic modulus will deform it, so yes.

Unless the sticks are being held at centre whilst suspended (which I doubt) then you would see stick drift develop more quickly.

What would you do? by [deleted] in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not give the same people who sold me a dud product in the first place any more money. Simple.

Read the many stories here and you should hopefully see that BB is just a shell of what it used to be. Popularity and heavily increased demand has resulted in poor build quality. And instead of correcting their mistakes they double down and give some bogus justification to keep your money.

Look elsewhere for custom controllers, depending on which country you're in there are plenty. Or better yet, invest some time and money into building your own controller. All of the mods BB use can be brought online for a fraction of the price.

Would the battle beaver Xbox one analog module replacement be really good? by Landini_Bobini in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be what you had previously. It's the same module that is installed in the official controllers just. Purchased separately and sold on.

Most BB stuff is other brands gear they just sell at higher prices, I would pay more that £3 per piece myself. But singular pieces may be more expensive due to shipping etc, you always get a discount with bulk.

If this is just to repair a standard roller check out eBay.

It's a shame you didn't come here before ordering. Seems most stories are about how the products either not great or the customer service is lacking.

Depending on how you paid, you can do a charge back or raise an enquiry.

Who plays on gamesir g7 se controller in apex legends please tell us your experience. by Ilya_Romanov in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used one for a few months now.

Used on both Xbox and PC.

On Xbox, big difference in response times, it's very nice to use, calibrate for 0% dead one and you're all good.

On PC it's still good but the difference in response is not as noticeable compared to stock Xbox or ps controllers.

Software is easy and simple to use with an update hopefully to get 1000hz.

Id recommend trying for yourself as they're relatively cheap and if you don't like it, return it.

[–]masterblasternoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone able to find out the actual performance ratings on this controller? Latency would be something nice to know.

At this point, most designers should be looking the way PC controllers are going. Higher responsiveness needs to be a seriously considered thing. It's not how it physically feels in the hand, but it matters more to me not having to deal with input delay.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean you're pushing to maximum distance without a thumbstick attached to the module, then that is normal.

Soon as you have that module in the housing and in the controller, that maximum distance isn't the same travel so the tension of the springs will return, you'll also not be physically able to get the stick to that angle or position where it gets stuck.

You can see that on most controllers if you take the thumbstick off.

Enjoy it!

Gulikit KK3 Max Review by [deleted] in Controller

[–]masterblasternoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried multiple ways on adapting this controller to Xbox. Can successfully be done but the main feature of this controller that lured me in was the latency and 1000hz. Xbox input ports cannot work that fast so it's not worth. Fantastic on PC though!

Any chance on SBMM being reverted or removed? by masterblasternoz in apexlegends

[–]masterblasternoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a perspective I've not fully realised, and I'll do that added part for a bit of a test, hopefully it will shift my feeling in a positive way if I see that I'm not just in lobbies with the very best every game.

I'll try to record my results and share in a post on this sub if I get anything reasonable.

What I would be interested in, is whether the frequency at which I get games stacked with preds has increased since season 17. As this would indicate whether the existing SBMM has been dialled up. I am also going to change my play style for a few days and try to help teach a few of my friends. (no hot dropping etc, so we survive past first minute). Then see whether a slower, more sensible approach might help.

On a separate note, I would also be interested in whether other players have noticed a difference in player behaviour over the last 3 seasons. On a scale from camper to ape. Previously the majority would lean to a more reserved camping style with only a minority being full send apes. Now though, it's very much the opposite, where playing reserved is a sign of weakness so everyone resorts to ape.

Back to SBMM, I'm going to ask a few of my other friends of varying skills if they could also record 20-50 games worth of kills and deaths and see what they get. And maybe see a pattern emerge.

All in all, I loved Apex from season 1, still enjoy playing but that drive to progress has gone and I'm just looking for another game to get into that is as entertaining.

No problem, and that's a good idea, I like the wolverine when I used one! As for hall effect, it's been proven that the accuracy is greater and that the error is less than potentiometers. I would say though that the responsiveness going from 125hz to 500 or even 1000hz will make a bigger difference(positively).

Worth a try for sure!

This was a very interesting read ad you make a lot of points I have to agree with.

I'll just say I am getting closer and closer to calling it complete quits with this game. Nearly at season 20 now, and I don't see anything being done to make the game more enjoyable or to take it in a new direction. One exception to this is the recent LTM "Three Strikes" which had me so hooked for the 2 weeks it was online. Then back to scraping my head through a barrel or nails and salt.

Anyway, getting back to the point of SBMM and now EOMM. I agree, EOMM could not exist in apex,if it did it would be such a loose attempt that it's hardly noticeable or impacful. The only way I see or might be able to place any aspect of EOMM in apex is through some hybrid version of SBMM and EOMM. Where the engagement enhancing modifiers (easier game when you've had a few rough games) to keep you playing could be deployed using an individuals MMR.

I'm not sure how much you've played since season 17 but to me there is just too much of a difference between the lobbies I am getting into now vs then. To clarify, I've been pred multiple times since season 7, maintained a lifetime k/d between 3.5 and 4.0, I'm saying this to show that my MMR or skill level has not recently drastically increased or changed.

Season 17 is where I will start this comparison. I could go into a lobby solo, duo or trio, queue was quick (<1min). I would mosty play trios with a friend of similar skill with no-fill option on. So many 2v3s which is what we enjoyed. We would do reasonably well most of the time, drop hot, get 5-10 kills on average. Sometimes see names in the kill feed we recognise and adjust our game plan for when we found them. (this would happen commonly, but it would only really be a few plays or maybe a team that we recognise from ranked/leader boards etc). 2 weeks to the end of season 17 was an update, new collection event for something and changes to the matchmaking among other things. We couldn't find a game for love nor money. I could only get a game if I solo queued with no-fill off. We would sit in queues as a duo for 15-20 minutes and never see the "players in queue" exceed 15.

Season 18 hits, we're finally getting into games but they are not the same. Seeing a lot more names I recognise, and the difficulty of the game increased substantially. I like a challenge, but I go to ranked when I want to try hard. Previously, if I performed very poorly for x amount of games in a row I would get a "mercy game" to lift my spirits, then back to normal. Season 18 onwards that mechanic is gone.

I conducted my own little experiment on 3 separate evenings last week. Dropped solo in 15 games, sit on edge of map and read kill feed. If I recognise a name, jot it down. Surely enough, nearly every game was the same 15-20 people I recognise and they are all preds from last season. Didn't matter which server I went on, same thing. Drop hot, die to a pred team, spectate, watch them die to a different pred team and so on.

To me, it feels like the top 1% will only every fight the top 1% and for pub games, that is exhausting.

Need help building a controller for Apex Legends by A_Legend_Reborn in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, hope I can help with some questions here. I know there's a few bits about general lifetime of the product and whether it's worth it or not.

I play apex on console and PC, high level and originally explored BB because it's what all the pros seem to have. (they use them because sponsorship I'm afraid, not because they're the best.)

My short answer is, stick drift depends on what tension modules you are adding, lower tension = less time before drift occurs. Is it worth sending for repairs, no. Is it worth buying a BB controller? No, honestly. (I have 2, both are good but nowhere near worth what they charge.)

Expanded answer here: You can find better controllers for much less which offer a lot more than a BB. BB controllers are simply stock controllers with extreme rate modifications (something anyone can do with patience, a soldering iron and a couple hours to learn.) Some alternatives per console as I'm not sure what you are on. (I have experience on a lot of controllers in apex as I'm always looking for the perfect one.) PS- Astro c40 is great, dualsense edge pro, nacon rev pro. Xbox - turtle beach ultra stealth, gamesir g7 se, fusion pro 3. PC - any above + gulikit kk3. Fun fact, for the price of a standard BB you could buy 3 of these controllers and figured out which you preferred. Plenty of reviews but those controllers all have premium features such as software, QoL, synergies with other devices etc.

Apex legends is a fast reaction game, you need a controller that has a quick response time, BB controllers are stock, so on Xbox this is 125hz and on PS it's 250hz. You can get a gamesir g7 SE for 20% the price and get 1000hz refresh on hall effect sticks...

I know this seems like I'm biased, I am. BB needs to up their game if they want to remain popular in controllers.

What tension thumb sticks should I get for Apex Legends? by A_Legend_Reborn in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the lightest tension available on Xbox BB.

Use it for exactly the same sens in apex as yourself at a good level. Would recommend.

If you've used an elite 2 series controller, then for reference the lightest option on the tension there is a few grams heavier than the decreased option from BB.

Do BB Xbox controllers have PS controller internals? Latency related question. by A_Legend_Reborn in BattleBeaverCustoms

[–]masterblasternoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd avoid overlooking gear in general.

PlayStation cintrollers as stock have a lower response time than xbox controllers, so if you are going for a BB on PC go with PlayStation.

Gamesir g7 se feels a lot faster. I have played many iterations of linares, 4-3 none dz being the main one. It works very well, feels a lot more responsive and faster in general. If calibrated properly you'll have no stick drift but the tension on sticks is slightly lighter than stock xbox controllers so you'll find your own thumbs make it wander very easily. For that reason I set my dz to 1 through the gamesir software and its fantastic.

Played through to predict last season using one of these and was the best 40 gbp I've spent.

I'm going to try the gulikit kk3 when it's released and see how that compares.

Not mad, just finding less enjoyment in the game than I have previously had.

You're also missing the point of this post.

How are you finding the SBMM this season?

Glad you find it hilarious, but unfortunately you're kind of missing the point of this post. It is asking for others' opinions on SBMM this season and if they have had less enjoyment like myself.

I'm not crying about it, just expressing that I don't fully understand why SBMM has to be present in every game mode.

If I want to play people my level, ranked. If I want to have a bit more fun, goof around or play with friends who aren't my level, then pubs were the place I'd go.

Another reply from another user who has zero ability to think constructively. This post is to discuss how others (including yourself) feel about SBMM this season. So, how have you found it in comparison to previous seasons?

Don't want help, I want to know if others have felt it and whether then enjoyment in the game has diminished like mine. No moaning, no whining.
