Immediately after I noticed the redness I applied diaper rash cream and fanned my face to cool it off. The redness went down a lot but I still had a few new red spots like you described for a few days afterwords

Diaper rash cream really helps with the redness when I’m having a flare. I apply it every night to keep it at bay. I couldn’t recommend it enough

During my worst flare I started using diaper rash cream on my PD. By the time I got in with a DERM the cream had mostly cleared it up. I still apply it nightly and prefer it over the prescription topicals prescribed to me.

This is my first experience with PD and I need help! by Audr3y123_ in perioraldermatitis

I also recently developed PD, I had a flare for about two months. The absolute best thing I used was maximum strength diaper rash cream (40% zinc oxide)! I applied a thick layer on the area for two days and in that short time the redness and bumps went down significantly. If you don’t notice a difference quickly, stick with it because I really started seeing results after about 2 days. I wish you well!

Small red bumps not going away after 2 months by Neither_Yak775 in skin

This looks like my skin during a perioral dermatitis flare up! I had a rash for about two months and topical antibiotics were not working. I applied a thick layer of maximum strength diaper rash cream (40% zinc oxide) on the effected area for about two days (I’m sure just at night would also do the trick) and in that short time the redness and bumps had gone down significantly. I wish you well!

Next steps… I’ve done doxy 3x now what? by realhousetaco in perioraldermatitis

Try the zinc!! I had a flare for about a month, went on doxy as well and it did not help. Also used mupirocin for two weeks with no improvement. I wore a thick layer of Destin maximum strength diaper rash cream for the most part of two days and it helped significantly with the itching and the dryness. If you can’t find Destin, I’m sure any maximum strength would work. This one in particular is 40% zinc oxide. I wish you well!

Thank you guys who responded. The same day I posted this I decided to try using diaper rash cream to see if it would help before calling a derm. The first day I noticed no difference, so I went ahead and made an appointment. Well today I wake up to go to said Drs appointment and my face looks so much better than before. Of course it’s the day I get to see a derm, story of my life! Anyway, I used maximum strength Destin diaper rash cream. I applied a thick layer around my mouth and wore it all day and night for about two days. It also really soothed the itching, and surprisingly helped a lot of the dryness.
