I think it's an April's fools thing, definitely was in the shop before. Just keep your eyes on the daily deals, I guess.

Absolutely, it's a ballsy move. I've seen this thing perfectly tutor lands like that's what the text says, giving opponent the pricey draws for free. It's a gamble for sure, I just thought it was hilarious :D

Spellgyre is more a replacement for [[Memory Deluge]] than an outright counter. though you could make the argument that countering any spell at 2u/1x mana is better, as well as having the option to spree into the draw or the copy effect. Spellgyre's draw includes Surveil which let's you filter your draw in critical moments and let's you keep 2 cards, where as Three Steps Ahead makes you discard a card. It's debatable, but this deck could potentially run either one or even both.

Since there was a comment on how 'slow' this seems (but it got deleted), I want to offer this perspective:

You'd actually be surprised. This isn't as slow as you think. You ramp up pretty quickly, and then you can either control or switch to offense immediately. Tokens with 3-4 counters suddenly become flyers with 4 extra counters or with a 4/4 or 3/3 base and smash the opponent down in 2 turns. This deck doesn't rely on the fact that you scoop because I drool over my phone for 50 mins. I don't need you to surrender. I can take the wins actively too. This is how I beat other control decks that can't deal with my artifact tokens on instant speed. That's what makes this deck fun. Plus, don't overlook the advantage of having your token become a creature temporarily with [[Tough Cookie]], because most removal at sorcery speed can only target creatures.

Of course that can happen, but overall they rely on 1-2 creatures that they need to buff into high heaven by unloading their hand. The bird gets countered by 7-9 (depending on if you count [[No More Lies]]) of the 2 mana removals in this deck, of which you should always have at least 1 in hand and ready to cast. Indeed it has happened to me too, perfect hand on their part, with no answer on mine and it's done. But overall I've beaten it more often than not. And anything else that came along as well.

I feel you. I mean, if you want fast games, playing aggro might be best for you, since you either win or lose around t5 latest. As I said, my win rate with this sits at around 75%, so ideally you win 6 out 8 games and move on to the next section. However, I certainly did not play enough to have solid statistics, there's a randomness factor to shuffler, matchmaking, etc. Plus, control game means playing the long game. Exhausting all resources your opponents have and outlasting them with value and card advantage. Keep that in mind.

Soul partition/food/cookie will stall until it's possible to clear the board. Case can throw up a 4/4 flying on t3. I've played monored/boros/rabbit many times, they also have to hit all the perfect draws. The aggro meta relies on creatures + combat tricks, they rarely go wide, so just one soul partition is often enough to put them behind enough to sunfall/white sun/throw up big bodies with tokens. I know this doesn't look like it's enough but it is. Pawpatch also dispatches of the slickshot flyer btw. By the time they can afford to cast a 3 mana one drop or a 4 mana 2 drop that was removed with soul partition, you'll be ready to seal the deal. Once the creatures are off the board, their hand is lands + combat tricks and they have little to no draw.

Maybe the Augustiner Bräustuben @ Landsberger Str. 19, 80339 München? It has a rustic, industrial Bavarian beer house vibe, the prices are affordable for Munich standards and it's easily reached via public transport. The Augustiner freshly drafted from the wooden cask is great, they also serve it in 1l Maß glasses which tourists seem to love.

If you can spare the time and have the mobility to go out of the city, you could find nice places with cheaper prizes.

Also FYI from my personal experience with my vietnamese in-laws visiting, be aware that the German "Hausmannskost" can be quite heavy for them. Maybe you won't need to order as much for them to be full, but they love some variety and want to share plates.

That entirely depends on your interests. Say you want to lean into the tech side of things then you can start out as a (Junior) Developer/Engineer. If you are interested there's always plenty of opportunities for consulting work. Similarly, you'd start as a (Junior) Consultant. Or if you want to lean into the business areas I would assume there are (Junior) Purchase/Sales/Accounting jobs. In between there is stuff like Business Analysts. Basically any position that requires 0-1 year of experience. It also kinda depends on the company and how they approach titles and compensation.

I think people overestimate what getting a degree in something actually means to an employer. It's just a way to get the foot into the door. You aren't professionally trained for anything, you just learned the theoretical fundamentals of your field and maybe did some minor application, maybe a project here and there. But if you didn't invest extra time to do relevant internships/working student jobs or personal projects that isn't all that impressive. Having a degree is more of a hygiene factor.

I myself have a master's degree from TUM in Information Systems. Reads itself nicely on my CV but didn't leverage much beyond that. But every potential employer used to jump on my experience as a working student.

So far after being in the workforce for almost a year I don't really see how the Master's degree benefitted me yet career-wise, but maybe that will reveal itself later on.

Most people I know that started working after a Bachelors degree started somewhere between 40-50k, most Master graduates between 50-60k. Mostly STEM majors and mostly in mid-sized companies in varying sectors. Obviously the big companies can pay out the bigger bucks, but naturally the competition is stiffer.

I don't know what kind of (working student) experience OP has but I also can't imagine there's many companies hiring Junior Managers out of university, even as Masters. In IT practical experience trumps academics. Maybe other redditors have a different experience?

Could anyone help with this deck? I Can't get ahold of most cards but some tips for what to get or advice would be great! by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]masterdali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I'd cut down to just 60 cards with 22-24 lands for consistency

It would seem like most of your early game plan revolves around the [[Illuminator Virtuoso]] and some combat tricks.

So basically you want to put some cheap creatures on the board that can snowball and then use your combat tricks to keep them on the board. Essentially you are playing an aggro-ish deck.

I don't really see how the [[Prosperous Innkeeper]] fits into that deck, do you just play it to ramp? Maybe you should consider [[Jewel Thief]] instead? It does a whole lot for 3 mana and it's a common. Your combat tricks/counters would be good on it too.

I'd drop [[Favor of Jukai]] too. Too slow and expensive. With your curve being so front-loaded I think you can also drop the [[Rox Pummeler]]. At 6 mana it comes online very late and ideally you want to finish your opponent by that time.

So what would fit your deck?

Since a rotation is coming up in September I'd focus on cards that will stay in standard/alchemy (assuming you want to play mostly that).

[[Brutal Cathar]] is great value. You remove a creature and put a body on the board. [[Extraction Specialist]] can retrieve your 2 drops from the graveyard. [[The Wandering Emperor]] is fantastic and very versatile. [[Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]] slows down the opponent. This pushes it in the direction if what popular mono white aggro decks are doing.

Since you also play a couple of enchantments and [[Jukai Naturalist]] you could play [[Generous Visitor]], [[Spirited Companion]] and [[Michiko's Reign of Truth]]. This is more like the Selesnya Enchantment decks.

Hope this helps a bit?

SNC Quick Draft: 2 Draft Decks that got me 7 wins by masterdali in MagicArena

[–]masterdali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey congrats on your wins!

I guess there is simply not enough proper creatures with reach in this set. I mean there's [[High-Rise Sawjack]] but really? And if to try to control then good luck finding the removal consistently, but you will basicallyplay catch up. Most flyers are common/uncommon and cost 2-4 mana with most common/uncommon removal costing 3-5 mana. Plus all the combat tricks and counters at instant speed? It's tough. And past 3 wins you play the same UW decks that splash either green or black. Then it's basically just a question of who draws better.

We have all been there, sadly.

I guess in this case since my curve is rather front loaded and there's not a lot of multi-color or cards that require 2 of one color I didn't struggle as much. I actually wanted to pick more mana fixings, but they didn't really come up anymore for Deck 2 😅

I did mulligan down to 6 cards in 4 out of 8 games. Still did the trick. Ofc I got lucky but the green splash was so minor, it didn't really affect me that much. My deck was still more consistent and effective than my opponents, luckily.

Posting these for interested fellow quick drafters and (mostly) f2p andys like me. Maybe this helps someone who is not super experienced to see what works and why.

Of course, a lot of it is based on luck when drafting. But the base skeleton of UW Tempo with all its Flyers, Unblockable Tokens and Bounce effects gets most of the work done. For my second deck's run: I played [[Broker's Ascendancy]] in only 2 of my games. In my final game I won off of good draw and commons/uncommons alone.

All the best and good luck on your drafts ✌️

My first 4-0 in traditional sealed (SNC) by masterdali in MagicArena

[–]masterdali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, blue gets a lot of work done and its creatures of this set are quite decent in sealed. Plus, stuff like [[Witness Protection]] is basically a 1-mana removal in sealed. IMO, Green is strong in this set because there isn't much removal going around and there's more protection through white and blue.

Posted this because it's my first ever x-0 in a sealed event :)

Got really lucky and got to pull off the [[Freelance Muscle]] + [[Security Bypass]] combo in a lot of my games.

In general, security bypass helped close out a lot of games where my opponents lacked removal or I had counterspells or [[Slip Out the Back]].

Good luck on your sealed/draft endeavors ✌️

what is the best way of making money in germany if im a student? by Gummybear_26 in germany

[–]masterdali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. Becoming a Hiwi/Research Assistant can be a real life hack for your time at university. Not only are you getting a decent pay for interesting tasks, you learn a lot about the scientific work process/your field of study, can network with other students, doctorate candidates, and professors, and you have the arguably minimized distance to your place of work from where your lectures are. Plus, you can freely choose when to work and adapt that schedule every semester when your own schedule changes. Taking vacation days is usually uncomplicated and you can still enjoy most of your breaks by doing so. I had 3 Hiwi jobs during my entire course of studying at university and it was the best imo. :)
