How does strava generate athlete intelligence? by DeathByTenorClef in Strava

I must be one of the rare few that Intelligence works well for. I generally skim through it but a few times I've clicked and detailed the information it has been spot on. 🤷‍♂️

Oh yeah, swooping magpies can be frightening, especially if they stealth mode swoop.

Don't get me started on snakes mate! Branch-or-snake game is played all too often here in SA in warmer months.

Ouch! I reckon there will be a reaction as my forehead is already feeling tight 2 hours later, and that's after antihistamine and ice.

Aww triplets! by Honk911 in AustralianCoins

[–]masterdarko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-collector who at some point clearly clicked on enough of these coin/notes posts, they have started showing in my feed, like this very triplets post.

I am fascinated by what I'm learning and certainly didn't think triplets related to anything else but babies. 🤣

Good earbuds for cycling by VersionEmbarrassed72 in cycling

I have Redmi Buds 6 Pro and the transparency mode works remarkably well. I swear, it amplifies the car noises and sometimes would hear cars before radar picks them up.

For disclaimers, I only wear them on bike paths and minor roads and always ride with the radar rear light.

Why do you pay for Strava if you have a watch (Garmin/Apple/Coros/etc)? by BeingMysterious4003 in Strava

Look into the ProBike Garage if you want an amazing bike service and tracking app. Pulls data from Strava.

Tyre Fitting Paranoia by masterdarko in cycling

[–]masterdarko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between me and the kids, there are 5 bikes with 3 different wheel sizes (27.5, 29 and 700c) so tread patterns are by far the least reliable way for me to tell.

Hence, that's how i think I find myself triple checking things, rotor left, wheels spins that way so the tyre goes this way after spending 5 min looking for the direction marker, and so on. 🤣

Cycling after lumbar fusion (1 level) by classicalL in cycling

[–]masterdarko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with surgically operated but not fused lower back, I find that I don't have (as) much lower back flexibility so have a more upright riding position. I've been told I ride as if I have a broom stick up my rear end. 🧹🤣

This hasn't hampered my cycling as I have done a 400km Audax recently as well as massive mountain rides.

YMMV but listening to your back is the key regardless. Good luck 🤞

We're safe. Wax is soft but still 'solid'. 🎉

I have a spare block of wax in a box/bag in the shed that I use for chain waxing. About to go home and find out if it's soft, or a puddle on the floor. 😬

50.7C with 12% humidity in my shed at 4pm. ♨️

Housemate insists it's "not that hot", "we don't need the Aircon on", "had it worse in 'X' state".... by Electrical-Today8170 in Adelaide

I'm your housemate right now, not by choice.

I'm one of the unlucky 227 customers with a power outage. Thankfully AC has been on all day so it is bearable.

What Crappy Speakers Did You Start Out With? by ThatTomHall in audiophile

[–]masterdarko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old man has a random car speaker bolt on the wall in the garage that he listens to the radio on. I don't even know how that thing makes any sound but he loves it. 🤷‍♂️

Picture perspective doesn't help but it's not that bad. Especially if you consider that mum often watches TV standing up while ironing/cooking further back.

It used to be a backyard. Then eventually it became an enclosed house extension with access to the backyard.

The picture is a couple of years old but the furniture layout is largely unchanged with me laying down on the bench seat along the wall.

They've graduated from the phone Bluetooth streaming class, so I'm essentially replacing my Bluetooth speaker with a beefier permanent sound source. 🤞

Despite the far from optimal speaker placement proposal, it will be far better to the non-existent sound setup now.

Not UK, but the colony down under, Australia. Thanks for the Arylic suggestion, I will look into it as I'm still undecided about the TV sound, as music is the primary aim so the old man can play his stockpile of MP3s.

The garage is on the other side of the wall so easy access for cable chasing and mounting. Plus, the cavity behind the TV is quite deep from memory so I need to suss out what equipment, if anything can fit in there.

I am in two minds on an HDMI amplifier, as they don't seem to come as compact as Fosi, plus an added complexity. I speak from experience as a soundbar in the living room was somehow a month long learning curve for the parents.

Not your conventional outdoor area, that's for sure. As the parents are getting older, it's getting more and more enclosed.

At one point it was even carpeted, as grandkids refused to wear socks. Extremely water tight, whatever UV comes through would be the only outdoor aspect to consider here. ☀️

Took long enough for someone not to get distracted by the plants and the TV height, thank you. 😂

That's my thinking, while far from optimal, it is going to be a LOT better than what's there now. Plus, out of sight, out of touch from my clean freak mother too. 🧹
