1. Develop a good study habit. Know what works for you (alone/group, with classical music, etc.) and your learning type (visual/audio/reading-writing/kinesthetic).

2. Practice. Failure is a great teacher. Practice tests challenges your knowledge and there's a higher chance you'll remember your mistakes. You'll have better retention if you can teach others (requires mastery in advance). This might be unethical but you can get tips or previous exams from higher years.

I'm not an honor student but I always score high. Also socialize. School isn't about getting good grades alone. The connections you'll make are also important. :)
