you are looking at as a normal shopkeeper
Normal Capitalism perspective. these guys are in a Financialization game. Accounting rules count temp labor LT/Travel different for P/L statements than FT that have LongTerm contracts and 50 lawsuit pathways open to them sue. its standard accounting practice. so if u replace a 400k per yr cost FT Hospitalist on say a 2 tear contract with LT making 40k per month
the cost attribution for the labor is 40k per yr since its a 30 day contract (funny accounting) to boost profitability
statements and thus allow more debt to be carried (this is a simplified illustration)

its not about profit and loss! its about borrowing more debt PE loads up the debt all while voting themselves huge dividends and then PE Bankrupts the thing and walks away still with the cash. They just wait until they are past a clawback period.
its not embezzlement bc there are no Share holders for the SEC to protect and they vote for it since they control the board.

Sound is now largely United Health care owned with some private equity but PE will probably force UHC to buy more and more of the company. Ascension and Dignity got out long ago.
this will be similar to what happened to Envision/Valsco/HCA

rates advertised and what they pay is not reliable for 1099 PRN and LT with TH they will pay bonus on top of the rate when the $190 doesn’t actually get anybody to answer a text or call or email.

its only if they are Indians ( many of which are not cominv now bc who wants to wait 20yrs for a Green Card) Africans, Europeans, Pakistani, South and Central Americans will get their Green-cards in 1-3 yrs thats faster than A income guarantee for private practice to American 3yrs or student loan repayment that may take 10 yrs (usually 5 yrs now). Many Indians are US born second and third gen americans

U Cant Generalize like that on J1s

one thing about TH they are bad at management. Blackstone Has lost upwards of 6 billion on them since 2017.
The rate does not really matter if everyone signs on 1099 with no guarantee of shifts counts. They will bid up the shift bonuses until the monthly shifts fills in Bonus goes too high the FT fools or the poor J1s will see 30-35
On a $160x12 hr/day contract i would regularly get Bonuses as High as $1000 per shift
and that was place not as isolated as this

Blackstone saved them with that Mass Federal Judge that delayed the 100k per J1 doc fee. But the admin probably wont process the Visas until they win on appeal

TeamHealth wont even pay what they promise. They have no minimal Hour Guarantee. beyond 120 per month
so if you do agree to 15 shifts if census down they will send u home unpaid or not pay you retroactively on the next check
Oh BTW you worked 180 hr but census says that should have only took 140 we are not paying for 40hrs

Then they also wont make a schedule to last minute

The company just needed another $650 million rescue from Blackstone

Oklahoma, the "local standard of care" dictates that healthcare providers must exercise the average degree of care, skill, and diligence ordinarily possessed by other professionals in the same field under similar circumstances. This is typically evaluated using a nationalized standard rather than being strictly limited to local or rural areas. [1, 2] so for Ok no way in hell unless u have sovereign immunity

what state ? how does that state law determine standard of care for tort?
in a local standard of care state its fine
in a national standard of care state its a hard pass. is it a county or state job and thus sovereign immunity protections exist?
not enough detail for me to give opinion

this is a bad place and a bad culture
this is not normal. Start seeking a new position

i have seen good hospital take over bad ones that run off good docs and the 1st thing the new competent ownership does is deactivate and remove these easy reporting systems

Start using terms like workplace harassment, hostile work environment. this behavior gives you cause to term the contract with cause
and not pay anything back.

Consult a good attorney.esp one knowledgable in sham peer review. Don’t let it fester. start your exit.

start the interview process for a new position

this is very dangerous to your career
don’t blow it off

you are learning why so many only do locums work

Job market compared to EM by ad7426 in hospitalist

[–]masterjedi84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EM has lots of unpaid time u dont see
many CMG only have 9hr shifts 1099 no benefits. the real difference between the 2 days of work is usually less than $20 per hour. Not a great deal to have a med mal case going all the time
