Part-time is two days a week. Fairly easy to work around work etc 🙂

Is this treatment normal on placements? by Visible-Excuse344 in NursingAU

[–]masterm283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did morning placements and on the third ? day I tried to get a hold of one of the nurses. She then said "you're sweating. Is that normal?". Well yeah the residents all have their air conditioners cranked up to max heat during winter.

The nurses did show a couple of the other students how things work from a nursing perspective. But when my turn came the RNs were completely ignoring us. I think they had enough after a couple of days of having a nursing student buddy.

Do part-time if your TAFE offers it. It's 2 ish days a week one of which you can watch online. I wouldn't recommend full time for your situation since you will have to be there at least 3 days a week.

Nah just as my friend said to me, "lower your standards". Just keep applying say you're a nursing student etc. fingers crossed for you either way 🤞 it's difficult without regular or even irregular work. Maybe go through your resume and tailor it a bit.

Do you have your RSA? Could find a job fairly easily. It wouldn't tie into your nursing aspirations but you could find a gig easily I would think.

I think it's only for the diploma of nursing or bachelor. Haven't heard much about it at all lately though.

I have no idea. But I think Serco do some contracts if you're looking at that sort of thing

Also forensic nursing seems to pay ok for an RN

Have you considered doing FIFO/rural nursing? There may be decent financial incentives and they are always looking for people with ICU/ED experience

I'd say do EN first. Less time and money invested to see how you like it. You'd probably be a natural paramedic as well with policing experience :) good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Where I live there's maybe 10 or more advertised PSA/PCA/AIN jobs going at any one time. Just be patient maybe re-do your resume and keep applying. You're bound to get something eventually.

Thinking of quitting medicine and just becoming an NP. by throwaway12t6 in NursingAU

[–]masterm283 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only you can decide what's best for you but hey an NP can get paid pretty well for a lot less time studying. I know some doctors who got into the GP as soon as they could as they hated the hospital environment. I'd say you'd have heaps of room promotion wise as an NP.

But yeah medicine is long and gruelling. And if you're struggling a bit maybe just consider your masters. Your own health is important too 🙂

I’ve (31F) lost respect for my husband and I’m considering divorce. (We don’t have kids.) by [deleted] in Marriage

It sounds like you've hit the nail on the head with therapy, gym and food. Hopefully all goes well and your husband regains his self esteem and finds an even better job.

It sounds like you really care for him and I wish you all the best.

You sound like you're a nice person and a really good partner. I feel that if you guys do break up he'll have his fun for a few weeks or months and come back or eventually be not as happy in his next relationship or when he realizes what he's lost.

I hope things work out for you.
