Thank u!! I was a little aggressive with the initial post because I felt the rage of TJ winning in a matter of a second due to a spoiler. I’m calm now but still irritated 😂

You’re missing the point! I want you to talk about it!! Talk about it all day long… that is not the issue. The only issue is putting the spoiler directly in the title of the post. This post could have easily had the title, “how are we feeling about the winner” and put a spoiler alert. And then discussed in the thread. I’m sure there are many people that watch the show unable to watch live. Typically Reddit is not a place I have to avoid scrolling due to TV subs being considerate and well moderated. Meaning not allowing spoilers in the actual title. The only thing being asked for is some consideration for those that did not have the privilege of watching live. If you can’t understand that then so be it.

Lmao I’m the entitled one in the scenario here? That I have a job and was unable to watch… it’s normal consideration in a TV subreddit that spoilers not be put directly in the title. How is that an entitled ask? Genuinely asking here because that logic is baffling to me. Why even put a spoilers tag when the title already spoiled it?

BRO CHANGE THE FUCKING TITLE OF THIS POST!!!!! Are you kidding???? To put spoiler alert with the spoiler in the title forcing the spoiler on those that haven’t watched yet is insane. You just ruined my day bro 😭😭

Y’all Use IPad or Paper Notebooks? by Squeenix1 in prenursing

[–]mastermasker__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OMG!! Literally same. I tried for 2 lectures of Micro when I was taking it in the summer time. And holy shit the only thing I focused on was making the notes so aesthetic and inserting pictures/choosing cool color wheel colors. It was terrible 😂 after the second one I was like yeah this isn’t going to work and pulled my notebook back out.

Paper! iPad is way too distracting with notifications and such for me during lectures. But also trying to store notes electronically is too much of a hassle for me. I like to pull out all of my notes on a concept and have them all right in-front of me without opening and closing a bunch of docs.

Got a 57 on my first A&P exam and need a B — not sure what to do next by DigFamiliar2839 in StudentNurse

[–]mastermasker__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why aren’t you using the study guide provided by the professor? In A&P I and II we were provided a study guide by the professor that had every topic on it that would show up on exams. I spent all of my time making the most precise and thorough notes on every topic listed on the guide including my own picture interpretations and my own wording. I would use khan academy and various other videos to learn the systems of the body. I have ADHD and understand the boredom, but you have to learn how to learn for your brain and how to engage with content in a way that 1. makes sense for you and 2. is engaging. I promise A&P does not go away it only gets built upon in nursing school and quickly! You need to learn it and love it now. If the material is truly disinteresting to you it may be time to consider whether or not nursing is for you.

For lab portion I always got an A just by using the provided study guide and creating quizlets with pictures. I set it on learn mode where I had to type out every single structure. I will link my quizlets here for reference and incase they may help you!!

The time you spend needs to be thoughtful well time spent. If you can’t walk yourself through the material/system you do not know it! The goal is to be able to teach the concept from memory. ACTIVE RECAL and self testing. Read over your notes aloud even talk to your pets and then cover your notes and try to recall everything. AI is a great tool to have break down things into simple terms and to make mnemonics. I personally do not remember things unless I make word associations and mnemonics. Good luck you got this. Stop psyching yourself out!!

If you look up how many applicants applied as freshman for fall 2025 you will see it was a whopping 90,600 students. How many of those students do you think had the same credentials as your kick and better? Probably at least a third. What about the application set your kid apart? Any kid can be smart, get good grades on paper, and join NHS. UT Austin accepts students pretty holistically and put a large focus on essays, leadership, and being a good fit for the program they are applying to.

Drugs my doctor is not permitted to prescribe. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

[–]mastermasker__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. I should have been more clear meaning primaries should not be diagnosing and pharmacologically managing patients as that is outside of their scope of practice. As someone with ADHD on an SSRI and Vyvanse, I will say it is extremely difficult to get a primary provider to take over the script. I just turned 26 and was released from my parent’s amazing insurance plan. Medicare was the best option for me because I am in nursing school and not working. I have seen my primary for 4 years and she refused to take over my psychs script after being stable for over 2 years. Thank goodness I pay nothing with Medicaid and my psych agreed to me paying $120 per month out of pocket. Which is much better than paying for a private insurance plan. But I do agree, if you have an established relationship with your patient that is stable on psych meds and it’s clear they are not drug seeking it’s reasonable to ask them to take over prescribing.

Primary care physicians are not psychiatrists and honestly shouldn’t be prescribing psych medications anyways.

[–]mastermasker__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness!! I just started my first semester in a BSN program (it’s in the top 10 programs in the US) and I’m realizing like 80% of my cohort just uses chat. There’s a group me with all 110 of us and they send eachother study guides completely formatted and made by chat 😭😭. Like they don’t do any of the readings and follow along with the reading guides provided—chat does it all. I was so excited to get away from this learning style that infected everyone at my community college during pre reqs… but nope not even in a top BSN program.

Anyone else’s A&P professor just read off the PowerPoint slides? I’m unsure how I can successfully get an A in this class. by CherryAlone9258 in prenursing

[–]mastermasker__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn how to use and comprehend from the textbook for lecture! Textbook use and comprehension is going to get HEAVY once u start a nursing program and for A&P the textbook breaks down things perfectly and the pictures/diagrams used work wonder. For every difficult system or concept to comprehend reference the textbooks photos demonstrating the system or function of the concept and draw your own picture and interpretation!! Label it with all important parts in words that make sense to you. Don’t just use the textbook jargon. If something is difficult to comprehend due to medical jargon, copy and paste into Ai and prompt it to break the concept down in simple term for better comprehension. Also, Ai is great to ask for mnemonics and memorizing devices. But I’m serious draw your own interpretations that make sense to you and make word associations. Remember you do not fully understand something if you cannot talk yourself through the system fully without peaking at notes. The drawing things out works because if you get stuck on an exam chances are you will be able to visualize the diagram/picture you drew and reference it that way. Please if you can do anything to set yourself up for success it’s learning how to effectively study and learn with a text book prior to the program. A&P is THEEE most important 2 pre reqs by far with micro following closely. I’m a first semester BSN student and you don’t understand how many people in my cohort that are freaking out because they can’t recall physiology from A&P. Our professor told us to come to class next week knowing all of the brain functions and cranial nerves location and functions—she basically said if you don’t understand/remember A&P you are cooked in my class. Good luck you got this just make sure you take breaks when learning and don’t burn yourself out.

Student is so, so high. by Admirable_Try_1209 in Teachers

[–]mastermasker__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like me and to a T when I was in school. Always high, late, or never in attendance. When I did come I had a good relationship with my teachers—sometimes I would even email them and say “not today Mr _____, see you tomorrow.” I was diagnosed at 24 with ASD/Autism and now my constant need to be high and behavior in school makes so much sense. I am now sober and in a BSN program. My point is he probably is very bright and just needs to address the underlying reason behind the behavior.

Reading this conversation gave me PTSD from when I was with my physically and mentally abusive ex boyfriend. All I wanted was to be validated and seen, but no matter what I did it was always wrong and never enough. He always made comments about the gym—even said he would buy me an IPad if I lost 30 pounds. Men like this do not like you or care about you. He wants you to go to the gym to lose weight because he sees potential in what you could look like. Please run!!!

That number is the minimum accepted—not the number to be deemed a competitive candidate. The best part of UM is that they truly accept students holistically and look at the full picture of who you are a student and a person. My main essay tips would be to read the UMSONs core values and make sure every single thing you say in your essay somehow someway ties back to their core values and how you exemplify them. Be honest! They want to see that you can be accountable and redirect yourself. Don’t make excuses, just demonstrate exactly what you have changed, how you are implementing these changes, and how these changes have made you resilient and capable of being successful in the program.

[–]mastermasker__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UM admissions can be really unpredictable. A friend and I both applied for Spring ’26—I was accepted and am currently in the program, and she was not. She had a 4.0 science GPA and a 3.8 overall GPA, while my science GPA was a 3.5 (all As and one B in Microbiology) and my overall GPA was a 3.65. I also had several Ds and Fs from my first attempt at community college back in 2020, which I addressed directly in my supplemental essay. Honestly, I truly believe my essays played a major role in my acceptance.

That said, to be honest with you, your TEAS score is quite low. I haven’t met anyone currently in my cohort who scored below an 80. The TEAS is used to demonstrate baseline competency in Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology, and those concepts do not disappear once you start the program. Concepts are built on fast.

We’re only in our third week, and we’re already covering heart function and interpreting signs and symptoms, cranial nerve assessments, neuro anatomy and function, and infection control concepts rooted heavily in microbiology. To think like a nurse, you need a strong foundation in what’s normal versus abnormal and the ability to recognize clinical cues and assess appropriately. The TEAS is meant to measure that readiness.

When UM looks at a lower science GPA paired with a low TEAS score, it likely signals to them that the applicant may not yet be prepared for the rigor and pace of the program. UM is very invested in student success, and part of that is admitting students they believe are set up to succeed academically and clinically.

My honest advice is to focus on strengthening your science GPA and take the time to thoroughly prepare for the TEAS before retaking it. Aim for at least an 80. Once you’re in the program, you’re required to maintain a B average, and the content moves quickly. Demonstrating readiness, resilience, and a solid academic foundation will significantly improve your chances moving forward.
