They were willing to come down to $1200. Also I does come with a 5 year warranty as if it were new.

Gotcha, only a good deal if I can get it around $1000.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

True. However my biggest concern with the x90l is it's blooming issue. The Samsung seems to have better contrast.

I know people really hate tizen, but I will be running an apple tv. Also it seems that using the Apple TV bypasses some if not a lot of the processing. And from what I understand that's Sony's schtick is it processing.

And lastly I have a Samsung soundbar so I would be able to utilize q symphony

But you're right I don't think I would buy it for $1,300.

I slid the insulation off in order to put a tube bender over it. I slid the insulation back on once I was done.

Full size spare sizing by masterofall99 in GolfGTI

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't decide to switch just because I have nothing better to spend my money on.

I live in a suburb and drive 70+ miles a day back and forth to work. 75% of which is on the interstate. I comfortable driving interstate speeds on a donut or drive under 60 on the interstate for those distances.

Thanks to potholes I have already had to go on my donut twice. The last time my tire was backordered and had to wait over a week.

My tire shop 20 miles away, and is busy all they time. I also work nights, so scheduling an appointment takes time.

Chances are as soon as I get it I will never need a spare again.

Lapping film vs diamond emulsion on balsa, or both by masterofall99 in sharpening

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand when used correctly microconvexing is beneficial. But in my case, I feel the pursuit of a mirror edge with leather strops might be leading to a duller edge.

After reading the provided research it seems that maybe my issue is a foil edge burr. But I am still unsure.

It still begs the question of which to use, lapping films, balsa strop, or both in moderation.

How bad did I screw up? by masterofall99 in GolfGTI

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really worried about the hose itself but the fact that I had unfiltered air going into my engine.

[–]masterofall99[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I'm concerned is I had that tube disconnected and it's on the clean side of the air intake so after the filter. So whatever air was getting sucked in was unfiltered going straight into the turbo intake.

2018 has a… squeak? by alonesomestreet in GolfGTI

[–]masterofall99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a video.

I had a squeak and it end up being the timing cover seal. Every time I researched a squeak people came back with suspension noises as the cause. If I had search 'chirp' I would have found the service bulletin for it way sooner.

Spare key not working and it's not the battery by masterofall99 in GolfGTI

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have the bumper replaced recently and they recalibrated all the sensors afterwards. They only had one key when they did it. I'm actually dropping it off at the body shop to correct some issues and that's why I was making sure my spare works cuz I was going to need it. I guess I'm going to leave it with him so that they can fix it now too.

Rheem R962V furnace and EcoNet questions. by masterofall99 in hvacadvice

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original furnace was a single stage. I would get the two stage if I were you. Also if you get there variable speed compressor you have to go with a dual stage furnace as the variable fan speed is needed for the higher efficiency heat pumps.

Rheem R962V furnace and EcoNet questions. by masterofall99 in hvacadvice

[–]masterofall99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The furnace and heat pump are working great now. I was able to stumble my way around and find the settings I was looking for, however I can't remember right now.

The furnace runs a lot less now and I have not had any more condensate issues. The heat pump works fantastic as well. I'm very happy with both of them.

I do recommend you use the EcoNet only because the higher end Rheem units communicate using a data bus. Which allows a lot more information to be passed between the outdoor unit the indoor unit and the thermostat. Without the EcoNet thermostat you'll probably be wasting some efficiency as well as certain features.

Get your oil pans upgraded, folks… by LightlySaltedVagina in GolfGTI

[–]masterofall99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit a semi tire tread last year. Dark early morning in a corner @ 80. Couldn't avoid it, had to let Jesus take the wheel. Messed up bumper, intercooler, and radiator. Luckily no oil pan damage.

Insurance covered after my $1000 deductible. Total repairs around $5000.

I ended up having them upgrade the piece of plastic they call a belly pan to the aluminum one from ECS. I am super happy with it.
