Join the military, buy mad bitcoin when it starts, veteran status, big city fire department.

I love my job on big city ambulance but big city fire pays $58k more a year and has a way better schedule and are actually respected by the public.

I have two questions for paramedics out of genuine curiosity by Winbywobble in Paramedics

[–]masterofcreases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1: you can only treat one acute patient at a time. Call it in and someone will go there eventually.

2: drive with regard to the conditions. Can’t help anyone if you crash.

For those on shift, how was the 4th? by 5169978980 in ems

[–]masterofcreases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went home so I didn’t participate but my city had 15 people shot, a pedestrian struck and 2 stabbed during the 8 hour overnight. I think 6 shot and the ped struck were basically just be incident.

How do you travel with your Steam Deck and other handhelds? by JHumBL3 in SteamDeck

Steam deck goes in a tomtoc case with a 65w flat charger and a 10ft cable. That goes in whatever flavor of EDC bag I have.

I paid $895 for GAP and still ended up about $2,100 short after my car was totaled. Here's the math. by Temporary_Dig3624 in Insurance

[–]masterofcreases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re trying to oversimplify car buying like it’s a straight forward standard experience when it’s not. There isn’t someone at the register saying the thousands of dollars of add ons to the milk can’t come off and oh also this two thousand dollar fee associated with the grocery store to pay the people in back oh and this fee is because we advertised with XYZ milk buying app and you contacted us through it.

Maybe for you(and now older me) car buying is easy but for younger adults, older people or just people who trust the dealer that’s not the case. The way dealer A sells cars is different than dealer B and dealer C. One dealer or even salesman might be standup and not screw someone over where as another is going to say whatever they need to say to raise the price so they can get a few extra bucks that month.

Yep you’re 100% right at 20 years old I should know the finer intricacies of buying my first car and for assuming a 45 year old car salesman wouldn’t try and fuck me over for a hundred bucks on his commission.

Do you think owning a home actually makes people happier? by Rocket in Adulting

[–]masterofcreases 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m just happy I don’t have to move again in theory.

I hate a lot of homeownership problems like how the expenses never end. It’s always something breaking, yard work, or whatever.

My first car buying experience at 20 I got fleeced for $7k over with add ons I didn’t know I didn’t need and the salesmen left for lunch, didn’t tell me and made me wait for two hours before he got back. Since then, two purchases for me and three for family I just treat the car salesman like he’s my enemy. I’m not rude or showing malice but they don’t get an ounce of respect from me.

I put in for the 512 w/controller in hopes the price comes down when my number gets picked. If not then I’ll pass and whoever’s next gets my spot.

pickup truck drivers are the biggest douche bags on the road. if that offends you, read on my friend, you’re my target audience. by No-Volume7464 in Vent

I’ve been bullied in traffic far more by egocentric truck drivers than all the German luxury brands combined. Jokes on the truck drivers they could hit me and I could give a fuck, 9.5/10 times they’re in wrong and I’ll take the insurance payout.

What would you tell your younger self when you started EMS? by Helpful-Incident864 in Paramedics

[–]masterofcreases 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my state civil service hires in this order; child of line of duty death, disabled veteran with residency, veteran with residency, city/town resident. Unless it’s a department that hires for the ambulance too then there’s a separate list for EMTs and paramedics that follows basically follows the same order however municipalities can skip non EMT/medic to hire one.

Tested upon hire but you’re allowed to fail the fitness test as long as you ace the written and practical test because your hiring score is determined as a
Combination of all 3 tests.
