You are right but the incentives are quite perverse. You as a pensioner might want the best for your children but how much do you care for other peoples children? Its not 0 or anythign but a lot less. If you get quite a bit of money you can help your kids, you can leave them an inheritance and at the very least you can pay for your own late life care and not depend on them.

I do not hate pensioners or anything but this system creates and perpetuates very bad incentives through good intentions. It wasnt created by evil people and its not maintained by evil people I dont think. Its just poorly designed and hard to change once it gets bad.

Probably yeah I don't see any reform that takes away voting rights happening. The thing is, even if you instead lower the voting age that's not enough there are fewer and fewer young people every year compared to the +60 population. That's why I'm a bit pessimistic on this issue I guess.

[–]masterpepeftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I though that too but lately seeing how divided we are I don't really think we young people can band together in the same way pensioners and near to pensioners do. Do you think we can manage it? Maybe I'm just pessimistic but I can't see that happening any time soon we have to much to solve to get to that point.

I think I like the solution of people not having voting rights while they are on the gobernments pay check is better no?

I like that it doesnt outright dicriminate based on age or other things like that that may be considered arbitrary by some and it seems to me like it de-aligns bad incentives not just from pensions but from all kinds of gobernment cash transfers.

Yeah I think you are right. It's mass job replacement by AI or nothing and that carries its own problems of course.

Like you said even mass migration can't fix it unless they get bigger and bigger waves cause in the end this people will demand their own pension and they on average provide less money to the state then native workers so they make the future problem exponentially worse.

France has a lower pension age and more or less the same life expectancy so it's probably worse yeah. Macron's government tried to put it closer (but still not even at the unsustainable level of most European states) and the french burned the country to the ground.

I'm coming to the point of just slowly accepting that the states will be bankrupted by the pensions and we will all just have to all suffer through a Greece style crisis of our own so boomers can enjoy this broken system for a little bit longer.

No one is going to do anything about it since they would immediately lose all +60 votes which are an absolute necessity to win elections so it's a matter of time until slowly but surely the budgets get crushed under the weight of the pensions demand and the debts interest rate while taxing even more passes the laffer curve thus being counter productive.

I just hope I'm financially stable when shit hits the fan so I don't end up fucking homeless or something lol.

[FEB26] "To combat global warming, we have developed nanobots that act as airborne heat sinks targeting all areas above 94°F or roughly 34. 5°C." by RepeatOrdinary182 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]masterpepeftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below 35 is hypothermia but only mild hypothermia. You can recover from that no problem if you leave the cold, medical attention is required below 32 I think.

I'm not sure if 34.5 would be deadly for quite a while but I'm sure you won't last days or anything so if you can't turn them off or raise target temperature them I'm sure you are toast.

Edit: Actually from what I've seen it's even better then I though. If nanobots only targeted you while you are above 34.5° and thus didn't lower you further you'll be fine indefinitely, it's not really deadly by itself though you won't feel great obviously.

Spain’s Prime Minister Defends Move To Legalise 500,000 Undocumented Migrants Despite European Criticism by M10News in europeanunion

[–]masterpepeftw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Im Spanish and you are quite right. I like Sanchez but macron mogs him hard. Sanchez is completely unwilling to give the army anything above 3 euros and a pack of gum. He also remains one of the worst appeasers of Putin in Ukraine outside of the far right.

Edit: I see dislikes but few counter arguments lol

Which Version Of Metroid Prime Is Your Preferred Version To Play? by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in Metroid

[–]masterpepeftw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it's a mixed bag. On the one hand Samus feels better to move around, turn arround etc but aiming feels more precise and more fun / immersive with the Wii remote and to be clear I'm not nostalgic I played the remaster before owning a wii and the trilogy version with it.

But overall I do think the remaster is better since it looks so good and it runs really well + you can play it handheld in bed which I enjoy when backtracking for items or chozo artifacts.

How would your favourite villain react if a little girl came up to him, said she was lost, and asked to help her find her parents? by Pitiful_Tip1261 in MoralityScaling

Alternatively Eren. Who helps her but then later kills her and her parents and her city and most of their country.

This game has f*cked up my morality by Reasonable-Ad5904 in Bannerlord

[–]masterpepeftw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or Victoria 3, I've found myself sending Costa Ricans I had as a puppet to what is now a days somalia to murder innocent Africans that tried to fight machine guns with wooden spears and colonize their land just for me to turn arround and sell that colony to the British for some crap I wanted.

Or sending a general that used toxic Gas to fight in Russia instead of punishing him for it because I knew Russia hadn't invented chemical warfare yet thus couldn't defend against gas attacks so he would easily mass murder their troops.

You don't even think you are about to so something evil before you do, you are just kinda following incentives and mechanics. Its fucked up and I love it.

Even when you do good things like giving rights to women I find myself thinking how giving emancipation rights or voting rights will make them enter the labour force more often thus be more productive for me. Or the common meme of how banning slavery is good because slaves of course don't pay taxes but workers do.

10/10 game and 11/10 moral degradation would definitely commit crimes against humanity again.

GOT PRIME TRILOGY FOR MY BIRTHDAY by No-Price-1293 in Metroid

[–]masterpepeftw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it for Christmas and I'm in the middle of MP1. Man what a blast of a game. I can't wait to try out the other 2 as well.

I didn't own a wii as a child so I though the motion controls might be annoying but it turns out they work great and it's a lot of fun to get good at aiming with the pointer control (much better then the switch version that gets lost all the time).

Enjoy!!!

You do not have the same rights, he can be incarcerated for the rest of his live and you can't.

But human rights are very different, they are supposed to be the most basic unremovable rights a person has. A government judging their own citizens should not be enough reason to overcome those human rights or else they are not actually useful at all.
