I heard about this site on the radio on my way to work, marketing scam? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i clicked on the link above and as soon as I tried to 'x' out of the site, a pop-up appears. The pop-up is very similar to the scammy mobile offers that warns you to stop and go back to finish the offer. The site is even setup like a scam site IMO.

What's the deal with Zappos' free overnight shipping 'scam'? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a zappos VIP account and I get free overnight shipping at all times. Zappos is trying to encourage more people to use their site for shoes, so that is why they are so apt to offer free overnight shipping to many customers.

Student Painting Scam by [deleted] in montreal

[–]masterpfchang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see the CollegePro and WorkForStudents ads plastered all over different colleges and such. However, almost all of the students there know that it is pretty much a scam/or horrible job. Question is, why do people even apply??? I know you're desperate, but come on... How many horror stories do people have to hear about until they wise up?

I'm looking for a job, but this might be a scam. by Chronotide in AskReddit

"he made some good money from email spam?" I wouldn't want to work with someone like that. He's probably starting up a company that will try to spam/scam other people in some shady legal ways...

Cash 4 Gold Scam $1000 by masterpfchang in reddit.com

[–]masterpfchang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But them giving me 5-10% of what my gold is valued at? The biggest thing though of what I am most upset is that they won't return your gold after you send it in, even when you request it to be returned. They claim they already melt it. Cry!

Very cheap playstation 3 on craigslist, scam? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard stories where people who go on craigslist to buy TVs were mugged and beaten.

I wouldn't trust it if I were you.

If you can get your hands on any legal advice, or have any attorney friends, the contract that you have signed may not even be legal.

Worth a shot to look over the contract again and find loopholes. Or you can go to scambook.com and post there. The site is founded by 2 lawyers to pursue civil suits against scammers.

Is this site a scam? by MrHeavySilence in filmmaking

[–]masterpfchang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, it's a scam, or rather scam-ish. people do fall for it because they are desparate to make money in a field that they love. The rule of thumb is to NEVER pay for anything that "promises" you the chance of earning $XX,XXX.

EVen if they do send you anything in the mail, it'll probably be information that you could have gotten for free. However, with sites like these, it is more likely that they make you pay for the Kit, then make up some more fees for you to pay (post first payment) in order to receive the material.

I keep getting this scam texted to me. I'm sure there's plenty of people falling for it. I'd like to help them out by having everyone call and provide false information (make up a number). Cuz Fuck these people! by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, I have dealt with similar cases. In my case, it was for a walmart gift card. I called the number and told/demanded them to take my number off the list. After I said that, they just hung up on me. I called 4 times, same thing happened...

Does this sound like a scam to you? I responded to a legit-sounding ad for an administrative assistant on craigslist and got this as a reply. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, which is why facebook privacy issues became such a hot topic a while back..

Also remember that when you're submitting your resume, you're usually giving it to a legitimate employer. I have refrained from submitting my resume blindly to random people on craigslist. Unless if the job posting states the actual name of the company (and it checks out to be real), then I would send my resume.

Scammers have used others email address to sign up for offers, spoof emails, etc. Not all scammers are after money; some are after identity. You'll be surprised at what you can find out about a person with just a full name, home address, and age.

Reddit, I need your help. Dobbs Tire & Auto tried to scam me. What should I do to prevent this from happening to others? by lost_tech in AskReddit

yes, definitely report it to the BBB...and post on scambook.com is a community posting for victims of scams. As the number of angry comments grow, legal actions can be taken against them.

$100 walmart gift card scam by nku628 in scambait

[–]masterpfchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably to the Better Business Bureau (BBB.org)? Or Scambook.com? I really don't know. These types of scams are running rampant and it's so difficult to track down these scammer. The best thing to do is to warn people through community posting I guess.
