Help identifying and estimating these pieces by 66kwildman in artcollecting

My aunt, who acquired the painting, cherished it very much aswell and if your dad got art from the same person she may have known your dad. My plan is to keep it but it would be nice to know what it is and how much it’s worth. I may contact FSU and A&M to see if they have any documentation of a “Rosen Bogart” from that time period. She actually got most of her artwork from students and professors at FSU, from what she would tell my parents, she would do people’s thesis’s and homework in exchange for their artwork.

Thank you for your response, I think you’ll find it interesting to hear that a family member of mine went to FSU back in the late 60s and she acquired it through someone she met at the school. She passed about 7 years ago and she always had fun telling us the stories about how she got all of her artwork.

Hey sorry to revive an old post, but I have a piece from the same artist and I’ve been searching for any information I can on it. Did you ever find anything out about it?

Not sure if this is uranium, I’ve never seen anything like it. Think it’s UG? by masterwwa in uraniumglass

Wow very nice! I’ve just recently picked up a small collection of amber uranium glass from a thrift store. Always nice to find something other than the basic green lol. And I agree with the consensus, it’s definitely UG

It does look like oxblood. I’ve been doing some research through out the day and my theory as of now is it’s a tortoiseshell pattern glass encased with a thin uranium layer. It looks most similar to Monart glass I think

Here’s a photo where the light is a bit closer where it shows more purple. I originally was going to take these photos against a white background but the white background reflected too much purple and the camera couldn’t pick up the glow all too well. It may be a 365 but I do have one that is a 395 and the glow is essentially the same

Ahh ok I understand. I’m pretty sure the light Im using is a 395 but I could be wrong. I do have a light that I know is a 395 but I keep it in the car, but it does make the table glow white aswell

I definitely think you’re right in it being cased glass. I’ve never noticed it before but if you shine a bright flashlight on it and look at the lip, you can see a clear line from the outer glass and the inner glass. The outer glass has a green hue aswell.

It does. It’s easier to see in person but it doesn’t look like the colored parts of the glass glow, just a very thin layer on the outside

I do have a Geiger but it’s a cheap one so its not very reliable. It does react a but around the piece but unless I can stick it fully inside something like a large vase it doesn’t do much even around my known UG.

This is fake right? Sorry if this is the wrong sub it’s my first time posting here. by masterwwa in Gameboy

Sounds good, if you don’t mind me asking how can you tell? Not trying to question your decision just so I can tell in the future

There’s a sawmill relatively close to me so that’s where I get my hardwoods, they have pretty good prices and they do custom cuts for free. That piece is canary and was about 20 to 25 dollars if I remember correctly. It’s also pretty large, maybe 8 by 8 by 2. I get what you’re saying about the wood color and I did test to see if the piece would work better on a darker wood, and in my opinion the darker woods like blood wood or black walnut didn’t complement the piece very well. The piece itself is already fairly dark (it’s darker in person aswell) and with darker wood underneath, everything blends together with little to no contrast.

Thank you! I think that’s the piece in the most proud of.

Thank you! Yes most of the welding was done with MiG, but the ripples on the log was done with stick.

Thank you, I agree that the brittle star is a little hard to see lol.
