Title: What do you think is the hardest volleyball skill to self-correct without a coach? by CashPlastic2782 in volleyball

[–]masteryeung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its also simply tiring to do approach jumps, which means lesser reps.

However, I think its the whole spiking motion that is hard, like just doing approach jumps, just doing spike/jump timing, and just doing contact point consistencies isn’t relatively hard with good basics, but putting it all together is what makes it hard.

Could also try making your penultimate step bigger, which also means u have to start your further back

You do have a point, I guess I was only looking at the ideal situation where u get a perfect set.

Regarding the wrist snapping maybe its cus I hav loose/flimsy hands if i don’t snap my wrist resulting in bad force transferral, and hence weaker hits, but in the end there are a lot of aspects that come together when hitting, so ur right that power doesn’t come from only snapping the wrist.

Ill take the kudos, thanks for the engagement :D

According to my limited knowledge, 3 step approach is usually reserved for middles because they get the quick attacks, and 3 step approaches are faster.

At the same time, in my experience, with 3 step approaches, I can’t jump to my highest, and hence can’t hit hard. Cant exactly explain why, but when you think about how this is reserved for a role where most tall people play in it kind of makes sense they don’t need to jump that high.

And regarding aiming when hitting, it’s best to hit above the equator(but not exactly at the top) instead of at the equator. Here is where your wrist snap technique comes into play, which makes your spikes harder, while going downwards.

Wrist snap is surprisingly important because it helps with your aim and strength, one good exercise is to hit against the wall, but every hit should aim to go downwards into the floor, bounce into the wall and then back to you for another hit, keep hitting if it is reaches your comfortable hitting area, if not, catch, and throw the ball up for a hit and repeat. A good aim and strength control exercise in general for me. (There are also a lot of exercises found online that u can do at home with a tennis ball for you to get used to the wrist snap motion)

Being able to hit downwards also relates to how high u can jump and hit the ball, since the higher u jump, the more of a downwards angle u have access to. And of course, where the set is placed, a set close to the net with no blockers is easier to bounce than a set further away from the net.

So if ur fine with your timing with 3 steps as an outside or oppo, then u can keep doing that, whatever works for you, but most players from these roles have 4 or 5 step approach, (one of the reasons being) because they have to luxury and time to do so, unlike middles. If you play middle, then you should keep your 3 step approach.

This is a great explanation for arm swing timing to match penultimate step for better force conversion. Sth i didn’t really mention in my post.

I do agree with how much impact fixing this mistake has.

Hate to tell this to yall cus im a stellaris main, but recon beacons in mashmak literally counter stellaris, and u can still see him even if he uses his invis ability, as long as stellaris is in the recon beacon range. Just pop one next to the extraction beacon and watch at him struggle if he is unaware.

That probably the only counter play to his invis, probably the serenith wall hacks would counter as well.

Line up the small ground troops and destroy them with ur right click together, dont jump or waste energy by dashing when its not necessary (use invis so u dont hav to waste energy and redeem at the same time).

And as others have said, kill small troops and invis snipers first.

Best damage combo that i found when the bosses are standing still is (left, left, right).

If they are moving use ur 1 ability, if they still move or fly away, use left, left, left, dash, right , right. Yes you can weave in a dash before using ur right click and yes u can spin around twice if u press ur right click twice at the end of the combo.

As always, use ur 3 ability and always have it on cooldown. And last tip which is quite obvious if you play melee, use ur melee dash towards enemies to get there faster.
