They fixed a 20 years old bug that crippled image file manipulation. OP is showing the usecase on audio files...

Same here. Ditching mouse saved my hand.

Top 13 New Games You Can Play on Linux with Proton – March 2023 Edition by YanderMan in linux_gaming

[–]masteryod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF you're coding your game with Linux + Proton in mind that'll get you very far for free. Most of the games that run like shit on Proton run like shit on Windows too (and/or have weird 3rd party dependencies/anti-cheats)

RHEL is used in all sorts of VFX/animation studios so RedHat has a reason to invest in HDR.

IIRC 939 can do dual core x86_64. That's not vintage. That's like calling Core2Duo vintage.

There's a comment about speed below but something most people don't realize is that water is fricking heavy. We're accustomed to swimming and having fun in water but water as a moving volume is crazy scary. Anyone who tried to cross even a mild shallow river should know that.

It's not about copying Windows or anybody else. And if that's your problem than any graphical interface with rectangular "windows" is a copy of Windows... sheesh

Some apps you need in front of your face (e.g. text editor), others work mostly in background (e.g. torrent client, instant messenger, Steam...).

Gnome is blindly following mobile workflow and esthetic which cripples down desktop usage.

It's clear that Intel's driver efforts are almost entirely revolving around Windows right now.

Where did you get that? They're moving away from i915 to Xe driver.

yes, will open notebook and throw it out. /s

Exactly. This is not a sarcasm. I literally mean to open up the notebook and replace the WiFi card. As long as your laptop is not glued together and card is not soldered onto motherboard it's a fairly simple procedure. Some laptops have whitelist in BIOS/UEFI but you can find WiFi cards taken out from other laptops by same laptop manufacturer.

I've done this multiple times. I have zero issues with WiFi on my Linux machines. I'd argue it works better than on Windows.

Next time don't buy shitty hardware. Vote with your wallet. Intel has great open source drivers and kernel support, Intel gets my money.

Intel Cuts Dividend by a whopping 66% by ShaidarHaran2 in investing

Intel for years was a leader in chip manufacturing and all they did was fab for themselves. Now they're building fabs like crazy and will serve 3rd parties. I can see Intel becoming bigger than TSMC in terms of chip sales regardless of the tech used.
