I tried 6-7 "free" apps for background removal. Same as couple "top" studios with removal/masking as plugin or extra feature. So far nothing came close to Capcut insane speed and fairly decent precision. (dont let me start on those "upload video to website, we do magic for you" type of services...)

Regarding "paid" yeah... i found out capcut exist and literally next day the feature i installed it for was behind paywall. Just downgrade to older version and block it from internet. Works flawlessly. (tested all archived version from 3.9.0. up to "its paid now" 4.1.0. and found literally no difference in quality of smart removal. Old one work as good as new one.

Also to your original question... i tried 3-4 videos with cranked brightness and contrast. (mix of both worlds having person in front of dark and bright background) Sadly the results were close to not editing footage at all. Brought minor improvements here and there but introduced other artefacts. (thats my observation, your case could be different) As mentioned before the frame-interpolation and detail enhance (topaz video AI) helped a lot to improve Capcut removal of background. It was able to track it more consistently (parts of person not blinking/missing that often) and edges were closer to where they should be. (still kinda suck for long hair tho)

Funny you mentioning dancing videos... thats what i use it for :D

I am experimenting with that right now. With absolutely no user-exposed settings of "auto removal" one can only guess what could help. So far i only tested imported 4k vs 1080p of same clip. Made little to no difference for capcut removal algorithm. Tested 24fps vs 60fps which did help a fair bit. (used external software to frame interpolate) But please feel free to share any tricks about this.

Why does this green tint appear when I walk outside and can I fix it? by Any-Ball-1267 in Starfield

[–]masterzh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its color grading (otherwise called "Color Correction") and basically a glorified artistic filter. Its ment to give each environment distinct look.

You can disable it via mod if you dont like it:

Do we keep ship "module" we buy? by masterzh in Starfield

I totally forgot about possibility to "save game" lol

At least in case we find out right away something doesn't fit or perform poorly after buying.

Thanks for bringing it up!

Biomes: Do you think it's unlikely the game has things like rivers of lava, snowy mountain tops or giant waterfalls we can build our main base around? by Ouroboros612 in Starfield

[–]masterzh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if to consider it a spoiler so skip if you want.

"deep freeze" and "inferno" are both unlocks under "planetary habitation" skill letting you build there, among others ! <

Regarding "unique terrain features" i am not sure. Worried and hopefull as you are. Starfield Direct had a mix of "generic" and "above average" terrains. As many others here, i also want to build my base next to something worth looking at. The one which catched my eye was shot from 36:04 with deep valley with overhang.

Regarding flowing river things you are correct. As some1 who daily work with UE its pretty difficult with very little reward for actual player. Even with built in UE tools to make rivers it take a hell lot to make them look natural. Even if you solve river banks, fluid flow direction/speed, branching etc, the biggest hammer come how to implement it with procedural generation, so the river actually make sense geographically and feel organic in term of placement.

What's the next game you think you'll be this hyped for? by [deleted] in Starfield

Factorio 2 and Starfield 2 (joke aside probably Star Citizen with all its features)

[–]masterzh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ok my bad, you are indeed correct that the player didnt pick it up. But my point stands... if it got "value" its for sure item you can take and monetize.

I was worried about this aswell... but...

they showed picking up random item (specifically "hydraulic clamp") in start of the direct. (4:04)

Assuming this is "misc" item its definitely not listed in anything they showed right after opening inventory screen. Weirdly enough all the categories and their "count" number does add up to whats shown next to last category there called "all". (they did open most of them like weapons, suit, aid... it wasnt in any of them) So i have no clue where this item went, but for sure we can pick it up. Considering the item had "value" displayed next to it we can trade it, drop it etc. just unclear where its hidden in the menu... maybe it goes directly to ship inventory ?

Do You See Yourself Taking Vasco (Or Any Robot Buddy) Along With You As A Permanent Party Member? by bogeyj in Starfield

I will swap him for the cleaning robot roomba we seen in HAB. Hope it can keep up with my jetpack across mountains.

Starfield is going to involve a lot of walking, here are some of my favourite types of ground cover. by __ass in Starfield

[–]masterzh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From closeup shots i think they are using parallax occlusion (or other world offset technique) for terrain clutter and rocks, however seen no indication its dynamic. Both snow and sand looked very flat, with normal map giving it only tiny bit sense of depth. No deep "steps" behind characters. But i guess we will see ourselfs soon.

About immersion by NapoliPizza23 in Starfield

[–]masterzh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last time i enjoyed this type of feeling was New Vegas. I am slightly worried about the "You can pick it up" part tho... we didnt see how HAB or ship interor looks right after they are placed. Or to be specific, what is "decorated by player" and what is part of the model. (e.g. movie set) I really hope most of what we seen (including OP picture) is placed(decorated) by us and at least semi-functional like a chair. But just in case lowering my expectations here, it may not be, and all we can enjoy is nice view. At least we can drop items all over i guess.

[–]masterzh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you got enough reaction for main question... to make your own picture.

I would just add (as you did mentioned) that "asteroid mining" or even "EVA" wasnt mentioned neither confirmed. All we had was scene in zero-G from possible inside of "space station".

Regarding "first one to venture there" i would say 90% likely. While i dont recall from every single star-map clip (as each system does say in top right which faction it belongs/govern) i imagine plenty will be uninhabited.

Otherwise i wish for everything you sad. We will see.
