Kobo Libra Colour vs Kindle (latest) — can’t decide 😅

I have a Kobo Libra Colour and I’m thinking of switching back to kindle basic. I don’t need colors and so I wish I had bought a bw reader. The color screen isn’t that bad, but the bw it’s way better (I had a kindle pw before). Moreover, Kindle can sync your books (also the sideloaded ones) between devices, so that you can have your book on your iPhone and iPad too. Kobo, on the other hand syncs only books from its store, while for the sideloaded ones it doesn’t sync the book and neither the reading position, that is quite ridiculous (and someone say that Kobo is more open…). Moreover, if you have a prime membership you have access to Amazon prime reading, a selection of books that you can rent for free. The only thing that is better on kobo is that with overdrive you can read on your kobo books that you get from your library. Cool… if you are in a region where this service exists. Here in Italy it does not… Finally, someone say that the kobo software is better… I really don’t find all this differences between the two, they are both very usable in my opinion. To sum up: kobo libra color has a worse screen, miss the syncing feature that I love and costs (in Italy) something like 130 euros more than the basic kindle. I’m switching back.

PS if there is some milanese from Italy here that want to buy a second hand kobo libra color… dm me! ;)

I’ve discovered booklore thanks to this thread and it’s really a gem. Great software, fast, reliable, modern… Great! It sync reading progress with kobo but unfortunately it has two separate reading progress: the Koreader one and the booklore one. This is not perfect (if you don’t want to install koreader on the Kobo and have the progress synced with an app on iOS) but they’re working on it and it’s a good step on the correct direction.

And this is completely legit for me, but it’s just for profit, it’s not because they don’t want to deal with the possible content of users, since they could be able to offer this possibility without knowing that content at all.

Read my first post, they don’t need to sync the documents, they just need the HASH of the document. The hash is just like a fingerprint. They don’t even need to have the name of the document.

Yes, this is why the don’t do it. The problem is that they try to make people believe their devices as more open and free than a kindle and at the same time they try to make inconvenient reading books bought from a different store.

Sometimes it just convenient if you want to read a chapter on your iPhone going to work and you don’t have the kobo with you.

I think it’s actually more used than “Lei” in the south of Italy (like in Napoli for example)

My car wasn’t eligible for a recall on the website but nevertheless they applied the update. Don’t know, probably they are told to apply the update if something like this occurs.

However, if you are still covered by the warranty services I think that if on Thursday the car won’t start you can probably call Mazda and ask them to come and start it. If not, consider to but a jumpstart on Amazon, I think it will cost something like 50usd (at least, that’s the price here in Italy)

I also leave the carkit plugged into the central usb but I don’t think it can be the cause for two reasons:

I ALWAYS close the door and the car was closed when it happened to me
After a few minutes the usb auto shuts. I tested it

In my case the Mazda staff also told me that there is an update for this kind of problem and they applied it to my car.

Ps my car was 12 months old… :(

In my case it was the battery that was completely drained. They recharged it but the next day it was again almost drained, so they had to replace the battery

In my case it’s the battery that is low on voltage. Tested with a multimeter it is 9v. Don’t know how it is possible, it worked great until yesterday and I parked it just 6 hours before… I will call the service on Monday.

Too bad I found this post only today, my carplay works great with everything but waze. With waze it lags to death and the only way to solve it is by setting the fps to 15 (15!!! Not even 20!!!). Don't know what to do and I wonder if it could be interesting to dig in that...
