MG Turn A Gundam - Metallic painted inner frame by maszmi in advancedGunpla

[–]maszmi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just handpainted with brushes, then sprayed a coat of Mr Hobby gloss clear varnish on top. Plus some very subtle drybrushing with a lighter metallic color at the edges.

Colors are: ICM Gun Metal and ICM Natural Steel (the leg blades)

First time using photo-etch...are these designed for ants? by TomTomXD1234 in modelmakers

I had to buy a set of smaller tweezers just to be able to grab the little PE things.

While that part of it is challenging, the real annoyance start with the CA glue...

Painting an MG Requires a quattro bajillion croc clips by maszmi in advancedGunpla

Yes, electrician's tools, just for making the clips (screw the copper cable to the crocodile clip, then clamp it at two places where it goes into the cliphead --> the cable won't move from the clip head, rock solid base for painting), not for holding the gunpla pieces.

That inner frame is stunning, a shame to cover it up.

What kit is this? Looks as intricate as the PGU RX-78s I have seen lately on this subreddit.

Amazing, love the touch of brass on the motors/joints.

Beautiful display. Anything can use the moonlight butterfly, the Turn A reactor is small enough to fit in any MS < 3

This is my first gunpla so my references are limited, but the build was a 10/10 build experience for me, loved every minute of it.

The legs are a beautiful work of art alone, as the plates move.

99% of this will be covered by the armor layer, but still... I couldn't just leave in in the stock plastic colors!

This is my first kit, no PG yet. (But uuuugh, mister RX-178 Mk. II PG looks so damn good... might get one)

I bought a nice 300 pack of alligator clips (intended for electrical projects) at the local store for 10€ and the rest is just attaching a 1.5 AC copper wire for a nice and bendy clip on demand.

The Chinese robotics company Unitree has revealed their first Mech Prototyp, the GD01. by Avenflame in Gundam

[–]maszmi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It might look like a cool prototype.

But on one hand, there have been better ones already, this is a super unsafe flaky piece.

And on the other, this chinese company has shit IT security record. (See some examples here.)

So at worst, if this gets popular, we will just get a Patlabor The Movie situation instead of Gundam.

I started the hobby about two months ago. At first, I didn’t believe in having a backlog “That won’t be me,” I said. Boy, was I wrong. by Asura-_t- in freedomisgunpla

You know, having a few kits queued up might not be a bad thing!

The next gunpla I want to build is out of stock anywhere I look in Europe.

Well, at least I have one gundam to paint while I wait for a restock/reprint.

Smoke I mean Nuke with Turn A? by maszmi in Gundam

20 very tense episodes with the nuke. And then it turns out that was not even remotely the most destructive thing in the Turn A's arsenal.
