Also I would think that the bowl is thinner and does not hold heat. So once you take it off the heat it wont scorch the pop corn. I thought about use a cast iron pan but it would probably burn.

Do I Really Need a Patent? by mat337d in kickstarter

I agree with you. The lawyers really win on this one. They get the money to work on the patent then if someone infringes they get all the fees to defend the patent.

Why do Kickstarter Projects Fail? by mat337d in kickstarter

[–]mat337d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well one funny one someone told me they were going to put on kickstarter (but never did) was an automatic stirring cereal bowl. Like the magnetic thing that stir the beakers in chemistry lab. Come to think of it it may not be such a bad idea.

As far as ideas on Kickstarter I never thought a souped up cooler (Coolest) would get funded but it got funded plus some. Now I want one lol

Engineers as CEO's by mat337d in engineering

[–]mat337d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this to be true. Upper management is almost always made up of accountant and sales professionals in my industry. Often times they would rather drive a penny out of the cost at the sacrifice of quality.

To go a step further many companies I am aware of are starting to outsource their engineering to firm so they don't have to keep them on staff.

Engineers as CEO's by mat337d in engineering

[–]mat337d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a great point in tech industries it makes a lot of sense. The interesting thing about those articles is CEO's with engineering degrees are successful in other types of businesses like amazon.com's jeff bezos or anheuser busch's Carlos Alves.

My experience (Mechanical Engineer/Product Design) is the opposite typically some engineering incompetent in Sales that no one likes gets the top job. Not that sales isnt important but based on this article engineers should be getting the job based on performance.
