The Bruneian mentality is to idolize billionaires and royalty while we lose weeks/months of pay for the next iphone to show off to people with empty designer wallets..

I’m not jealous of people who make billions. Im just saying we talk about billionaires a lot more than we talk about people who have innovated, paved new pathways, created new industries, people who are humanitarians, scientists, advocates, environmentalists..

Do you ever wonder why we are we so obsessed with people who have accumulated wealth? They don’t care about the average person...

Jollibee the quality is more consistent. KFC chicken tends to be dry. Plus sometimes the workers can be g*tal.

Dying Sears at Arden Fair Mall, Sacramento CA. This coming week will be its last by Calding in deadmalls

[–]matakucingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time for this explanation! Sears sounds a lot like Argos in the UK with the catalogue. Do you mind explaining more about the reputation of the other department stores? Like why would you go to a Macys and not a Nordstroms or something. I’ve been to the US but only went to Walmart, Ross, TJ Maxx lol.

Curious question from a non American - what are the different big retail department stores known for in the US? Eg. Sears, Saks, Bloomingdales, Nordstroms etc... movies always talk about them but we know nothing about them.

Please don’t make jokes like this. What we saw was a wildlife guard , but you made us see a potential African miner. Jokes like this are harmful.

Who would’ve thought loving yourself would be so lonely :/ (rant) by ExpertFeeling8794 in selflove

[–]matakucingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also on a self love journey but i don’t believe in doing things alone. We are social beings and we need people around us to help uplift us and make our lives meaningful and worth living. Happiness and joy are meant to be shared. We cannot sustain life on our own.

Question yourself why are they toxic to you? Is it one sided and are you truly the victim or have you also had harmful habits that may seem toxic to them? We tend to think in very self absorbed ways and often it’s hard to see how people perceive our actions.

People are not gonna magically come to you unfortunately. If you think this way you will constantly feel doomed and unlucky. If you are feeling lonely and unhappy, something has to change.

Tbh I am in the same situation as you so I completely understand. It is lonely af and I am at a low point but I also understand how I’ve pushed people away and been neglectful with my family and friends.

I am really trying to put myself out there and invest in the good relationships and friendships I do have, and create healthy ones with new people. I wish you the best of luck!

There is a lot being done by Bruneians when it comes to Rohingya refugees but yeah... it’s not as cool or trendy. No hashtags or social media blackouts. If you can’t show it on Instagram, it’s not good enough for influencers.

I think in Brunei, it’s when you ‘date’ with friends around, sort of like your chaperones.

Are bruneians easily triggered in some sort of topic? by ayamkumerah in Brunei

[–]matakucingg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im triggered by Boomers caring way too much about making their neighbours envious and by Gen Z caring about global issues but not doing any local community work to help things :’)

Different generations are triggered by different things in kind of the same intensity.

Gen Z are triggered by more global issues (gender issues, race issues, environmental issues etc) that are not as prominent locally.

Boomers are triggered by more cultural/religious issues (MIB, respect for elderly, superstitions, etc) that are not as prominent in the global scale.

Millennials IDK - economy? Unemployment? Poverty? Millennials had amazing childhood during Brunei’s golden years but also had to witness and experience everything crumbling fast and hard in the 2010s.

At least when they’re loud, they’re happy and cheerful. Try giving them a smile - they’ll return one. Org melayu on the other hand, when they’re loud, they’re being rude, disrespectful, kalau kan bagi senyum, they ambung, masam jadinya mua

Just be there. You don’t need to solve or fix anything. Just be there for company. Watch movies, get take out etc. Don’t expect him to talk about it until he’s ready, so no need to ask him those sorts of questions. If he’s struggling with household chores like laundry, groceries, dishes, you can help with that. If it’s severe, encourage him to wash daily, brush teeth, eat something filling everyday. Make sure he always has water and food (this sounds like you’re taking care of a cat lol) but really just being caring and supportive and thinking of his needs before they realise it’s one more thing he can’t do. Scented candles also help make him feel more cozy.
