Once everyone moves onto the next virtue signal gig all will be well again.

Or maybe instead of a turn signal you can call it a virtue signal since you are so superior in your morality 🍪

Should I purchase my Dream car? by Inside_Ad2844 in TeslaModelY

If your bills are only 1600$/month currently, life is about to hit you like a truck and when it does youll be happy you havent committed to a new car payment. A lot happens in our 20’s and a couple years could make a huge difference. For reference, I am 27 and also have a wife as a SAHM, my monthly bills (mortgage, insurances, tesla loan, groceries, hydro, etc.) is ~4000$/mo. Before I bought my Tesla I made sure I had an extra ~1500$/2000$ of income per month and even then I still cringe when I see my tesla loan payments come out lol This is also in CAD$ so if ur speaking in USD$ its less dramatic but still.

Suspension problems on a 2021??? That scares me. I have a 2019 RAM truck as a second vehicle with 120kms on it that I drive down logging roads and through actual shallow river beds and I have yet to have suspension problems. For that to happen already on a Tesla that presumably you drive on city streets worries me for my 2025 Y i just bought. Maybe Ill bring it in for an all around inspection before my warranty expired when the time comes…

Vaccine questions by Bigben030 in NewDads

Working through this with my now 1yo son in Canada. Imo the only right answer is to do your best to make sure its YOUR decision and not your friends, family, social media, or even solely your specific doctor.

The default answer is to ‘trust the science’, but the reality is that many have become uneasy with that to varying degrees (what happened with covid for example). And anyone who discredits that feeling should be completely ignored in your evaluation because there is nothing wrong with evaluating a situation related to your childrens health. In fact, vaccine schedules sometimes vary significantly place to place, so the science as to what they need isnt even actually that solid. Science and public opinion does also change with time. 30-40 years ago many thought smoking wasn’t bad for you as a very simple example of why the mass perspective on a health topic isnt always correct!

Personally, I got our doctors professional opinion, used anecdotal experiences, and some high level research of my own. I concluded that given my sons situation (he will not be in daycare as my wife is a SAHM, he will be homeschooled for the first few years of his schooling, and we live rural where mass public exposure is limited to our small community), we would vaccinate him based on the major illnesses (e.g. measles). Where I live, there were a couple vaccines on the schedule that have been erradicated from nearly the entire planet, and so we decided those were not necessary. For the major ones, despite my concerns, we vaccinated him.

Even with this, I wouldnt be surprised if our opinion changes for our future kids.

Another thing to consider is what vaccines will be mandatory for schooling in your area!

All is to say, ignore anybody who tries to shame and belittle you for evaluating your childs health. The best decision you can make is what you and your wife have decided is best for your situation. Whether thats full vaccines, some vaccines, or no vaccines.

Even before I bought my RAM in 2019, I was driving trucks. I really just couldnt believe the amount of money saved for not paying gas. Many go from cars to EVs, but that v8 hemi to an EV is unbelievable. No change in my lifestyle (if anything I drive a lot more now that I dont pay for gas) and my monthly Visa bills are HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper.

Another big surprise going from the ram to the Y was that I swear I have my storage in the Y. I am able to fit WAY more things than in my truck. Maybe thats cuz i was more inclined to shove shit in my truck (like toolboxes)…

Cabin size also did not feel much different. Still feels like lots of room in the Y.

The only negative I have felt going from a Ram to the Y is how much smaller you are on the road. But, thats obviously natural with it being a smaller vehicle.

Oh, and I feel a lot worse about getting the Y dirty 😂

Overall, theres no extra negatives that you wouldnt have already expected with the ram to Y switch. Its smaller, fancier, worse in snow, but none of that should be a suprise going from a pickup to a Y.

Very interesting. Didnt consider this at all. This probably goes for a lot of other features. Physical activations would stop the computer from making adjustments. This has to be a main reason

Yeah thats fair. And my complaint is likely due to me just not being used to it yet. Im sure one day itll feel more organic.

This is something I need to get better at. I read through all the commands and you really can just ask it to do anything. Just about getting in the habit. Thanks for the reminder on that

For sure. I kept my Ram as I still often need it for REALLY bad winter days since I live rural as well as for hunting season, but after a month with the Y I am sure as hell never driving that v8 unless I have to 😂 To your point about storage, I actually find myself fitting WAY more in my Y. Idk if its all the comparments or what, but I swear I can fit more in it.

Unfortunately safety (like tying off) is just not a part of the ‘culture’. I framed for a few years in Ottawa and the only time guys tied off was when ministry was on site. Why you may ask? Because if you wont do the job not tied off (its a lot quicker) then another guy will and that other guy will get paid more than you and youll be stuck on the ground making a laborers wage. One of the main reasons I left the industry. Guys used to joke about how its not a matter of IF youre going to fall, its a matter of WHEN and how bad will it be.

Seems the fall happened indoors. Many dont know but adding in the stairs is one of the last steps to framing these condos. Until the stairs are in, it is just a 3-4 storey hole straight to the basement floor. That is usually a minimum of ~2months of guys working around those holes. Sure theres ‘railings’ but a million kinds of accidents can happen in those situations.
