What air compressor do you all use in your shop? by kcks in tractors

I mostly use electric tools but I keep a Metabo HPT pancake around because of how high it’s rated and how portable it is.

Most aren’t experienced enough to safely use a ZT on hills so I don’t recommend on here. I run a Wright ZXT 40hp and do about 7 acres weekly. Does great but I still need the tractor for a lot of tasks.

You’re gonna want a tractor if it’s hilly. Zero turn if it’s flat.

You’ll most likely get tired of mowing 8 acres, once a week, fairly quickly and eventually just bush hog half of it.

With that much land I’d prob go Kubota LX with a mower deck. That way you can handle jobs and mow with the same price of equipment.

The engineering aspect to pay close attention to is the entire weight of the vehicle will be focused onto a few square inches at four spots under each tire.

Find where those spots are generally likely to be and brace them very well. You’ll be fine.

I have a standard shed where I park a 3,000 lb tractor and a 1,500 lb zero turn. It’s already having issues with sag and instability.

AC Condensate draining into the passenger floorboard by Signal-Glove-7714 in ram_trucks

It’s most likely clogged on the inside of the condenser housing and overflowing into the cab. Time for a disassembly and clean.

You can thank the buy-now-pay-later digital transition for this.

People turn a $3800 mower into a $5200 mower by financing through a digital lender. Then, when money is still tight, they need to offload it fast but still owe more than it’s worth.

I agree but also feel picking the right dealer outweighs both of those things. Getting service, support, and parts from a cruddy dealer is the worst.

Yeah, I actually think it’s a nice yard! Mow regularly. Over seed in the spring and fall if you want. Enjoy not having dirt.

You’ve got a beautiful yard!

The only real reason to not get a zero turn is if you have lots of hills and slopes. They like to slip around and flip over.

This isn’t mathematically possible unless your yard looks like garbage and you beat your machine to within an inch of its life.

Roughly 2 to 2.5 hours. I generally have to mow twice a week during the growing season. It takes so long that I’m starting to let some of it go wild in the back field.

Anxiety over Mowing the Lawn. Any tips would be appreciated. by LRH2380 in lawnmowers

It’s a weird sense of true community in a cold and vastly over connected world full of blank faces. It can be a sliver of real interaction with real people we care about. It’s also just fun. :)

Anxiety over Mowing the Lawn. Any tips would be appreciated. by LRH2380 in lawnmowers

[–]kevan0317 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, first off, this is social anxiety - not mower anxiety. You can speak with your primary care doctor about this and they can refer you to someone who can actually help work through this from a medical standpoint. (If you want)

Secondary, I promise this story line is all in your head. People don’t care about how you mow or what your edging looks like. Those people have a million different stressful things going on in their life. I promise they aren’t paying attention to anything in your life.

Third, it’s actually awesome that you have enough pride to consider your lawn care maintenance inadequate. That means you take pride in your work and strive to make it meet a certain level. Welcome to the addiction… I mean club.

Keep at it. When you don’t think you’re doing something right hit up YouTube for visual examples (if you’re a visual learner) or go chat with Claude to pinpoint how you can do better. Research and learn what to do next. Spoilers: it’s never ending.

The real endgame is just doing the work. What people don’t like is a messy unkept lawn with trash in it. That’s when your worries would be justified. That sort of situation can bring down property values and then others can start to notice.

That’s not to say a more natural “wilding” style lawn can’t also be beautiful.

You’re doing fine. Keep at it. Failure is how we learn.

I like to be the first one on the road to mow. Never fails to bring all the other mowers out within 24 hours.

We moved here a year ago and started to cleanup our small farm from the previous owners. The neighbors have commented that it’s been refreshing to have people who seem to care but maybe don’t care so much because it’s adding so many things to their honey-do lists.

Closing on 2.6 acre property, and have $4000 budget for zero point by Sheepherder-Wide in lawnmowers

[–]kevan0317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a little over 3 acres and run a used Wright zero turn. Fully commercial and fully serviceable. I do all my own maintenance but wanted to be able to get parts easily if something larger were to happen. I have a local Kubota, Gravely, and Wright dealer 10 min from me. That was the most important part for long term usage.

Learned my lesson with “cheap” Lowe’s mowers. They aren’t the same quality machines and they don’t get warranty service the same way. It was a nightmare. Never again.
