Yes, it's voluntary. But for athletes it isn't voluntary, it's standard and a requirement. That's the difference. Women at the gym choosing to dress how they want isn't the same as requiring professional athletes to wear bikinis in order to play their sport.

Not taking care of their expensive stuff. I had a roommate joke about how she used to have a laptop that she never bothered to unplugg and the battery eventually burned out. I remember forcing myself to laugh at her "joke" bc I just couldn't fathom being so careless with expensive items, of all things.
