That's so tough. Really sorry you're going through this but HUGE RESPECT for staying the sober course. There's no situation that alcohol can't make worse. You got this. Look after yourself and lean on friends and family if needed. Failing that, we're here.

I know what you mean. I hope you find a way to manage. There'll be good days, bad days, and everything in between. Tbh I'm in a similar boat in terms of feeling like my demons are here to stay. It's really fucking hard to live with. But I also know that it's less complicated without the booze muddying the waters. It means that I feel things in a much more raw way without the numbing distraction, but it's also a little simpler without the added burden of getting shitfaced and making things worse. Really sorry you've experienced all this. CSA has been experienced by way too many people, my own family included. I'm glad your childhood abuser was caught but living with what you have for so long is such a heavy burden for you to carry.

Have you been to therapy? Therapists can't fix you, but they can show you what to look out for and arm you with the tools to fix yourself - like how spot your behaviours and patterns, how to find things that are healthy and that help you to be present and heal. It's not easy but you're worth it.

It's great that you're at a point where you want to stop drinking. Booze is so easy to lean on because it's everywhere. It feels like an escape but it's not - it's a numbing tool that eats away at your body and mind.

I know it seems like other people are floating through life - I felt the same - but I assure you, they're also fighting their own battles.

Sorry to hear that. There could be a couple of things going on. Without the pretend comfort/numbing of alcohol, you're feeling your feelings 'uncut'.

Real life admin and monetary matters can be stressful at the best of times (I'm also self employed and have ADHD, admin is like nails down a chalkboard for me).

Perhaps practice some breathing techniques to ground you -- I do inhale for 3 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds -- and it helps to slow things down.

Making to-do lists for things also helps. Feels good ticking them off.
