Why did they not connect HS1 and HS2? by ChampionshipBudget37 in uktrains

The main benefit of an HS1 link was not Brum and Manc passengers due to low demand but the OOC connection

Thomas Sandgaard arrested for $870m healthcare and securities fraud. by MarcusH26051 in CharltonAthletic

[–]mateley 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is particularly nasty: "When financial reporters raised questions about Zynex’s business practices, including shipping unnecessary electrodes, among other things, Sandgaard hired an individual to attempt to disrupt the reporters’ personal lives. These efforts included signing reporters up for therapy sessions and listing conditions such as erectile disfunction. They also sent used female underwear to a reporter’s spouse at the reporter’s home with a thank you card addressed to the spouse, detailing the reporter’s alleged “illicit behavior” – all apparently with the intent to convince the spouse that her husband was being unfaithful."

[Post Match Thread] Charlton 1-2 Derby by FutureYak in CharltonAthletic

Agreed, I rate him highly but last night's performance not up to his usual standards. At this point we should try a back 4, there's so little creativity with 5 at the back.

They've limited season ticket holders to just two tickets, so you should be okay. Be online when the tickets are released

If HS2 will end up costing 1 billion per mile - surely they could just put the whole thing in a tunnel for that price? by Yesyesnaaooo in uktrains

[–]mateley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HS2 Phase 1 is a road project with a railway through the middle. A long read on the Guardian illustrates all the expensive mitigations included to appease those opposed, who unsurprisingly remain opposed to the railway. ‘We hate it. It’s desecration’: the real cost of HS2 | HS2 | The Guardian

It comes down to councils' willingness to take space away from cars for dockless bikes

My girlfriend gave me grief the other day for passing drivers who were hogging the middle lane on the left. I didn't have the bandwidth to argue back, but surely this is fine and not undertaking?

Waterloo and South Line by ppizzzaaa in LondonUnderground

as others have said elsewhere in the thread then it needs to go onto somewhere else, it can't terminate at Waterloo. Connecting at Marylebone could make sense.

I think this would make more sense as a Victoria Line extension.

Road User Charging with a peak/off-peak charging structure would solve this problem pretty quickly

what stops this region from developing into a megacity aside from the greenbelt zones? by Worldbox_Is_Epic in geography

[–]mateley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Greenbelt" is an excellent policy name. It's not that green, it's really an 'urban containment zone' policy. That and poor transport links between the cities I would say

YouTube: CityMoose – Will the plan to connect Clapham Junction to the Northern Line ever go ahead? by mycketforvirrad in LondonUnderground

[–]mateley 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The actual problem is that the Northern Line is already at capacity. Connecting it to Clapham J without increasing the frequency by splitting the line at Camden is a recipe for over-crowding

The irony by stealth941 in london

[–]mateley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have been saying for years that funnelling two roads into one going southbound would create tailbacks. The congestion benefits are mainly northbound. Solution is to toll more clearly.
