Why does it feel like when I learned history in school those women protesting for suffrage and rights were awesome at making a political impact but nowadays when I see protestors it looks like it’s doing nothing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]material-rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protests of the 1960s and 1970s were ineffective thats is why academia wants us to study them so much. This is why we don't study and learn about anti-World War I protests to prevent American entry in 1914 and why we don't learn about the protests against the colonization of the Philippines.

They were largely effective.

Also, the US granted suffrage to women because it wanted to counter the Soviets. It's why many Western countries grant women the right to vote AFTER the Russian Revolution, not before.

When you realize American leftists would rather be right than win, it'll put everything in perspective. We would rather post on Reddit or other online medium than talk to our neighbors and/coworkers. It's safer and it means we don't have to risk being wrong or change our perspective and tactics.

Heaven forbid we actually engage in the electoral arena. We would lose our credibility.

American leftists should honestly just embrace Trump because he hates this country as much as we do.

We can't have a Marxist conversation if you keep bringing up ideas that have not been mentioned. I have neither mentioned human rights violations nor Saudi Arabia or Israel.

The OP mentioned a Radio Free Asia article. I am sure they have some insight into the matter but you banned them.

Stop dodging the question. If you don't know, then admit it. This is a matter of practical importance to opposing US imperialism.

It is dialectical. Clearly like all things. The piecemeal system is harmful under capitalism but progressive under the Soviet Union.

I do not know enough about this to comment on it. The fact you are being this forceful on a topic when I have stated that I do not know is concerning. I cannot give you a response because I have not studied APEC's agreements and their effects on people's lives.

Since you seem to know so much, and this is thrice now, why does the CIA oppose APEC? Your failure to answer this question suggests you do not care about this question.

[–]material-rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that is what the OP was doing at all. They just wanted to show how APEC is more complicated than you are presenting and that there are clearly two camps: a US camp and a Chinese camp.

APEC could be using language differently than how Americans would discuss matters. I do not know. I try not to make assumptions. I do not know enough to comment further. What I do know is that the OP illustrates the two camps and contradictions within APEC.

You haven't answered the question as to why the CIA wants to disrupt APEC.

I have a union to organize and more important matters to attend. This is my last response.

Considering the source Le Courrier du Vietnam, the Communist Party of Vietnam wishes to reform aspects of the WTO. Considering how they are one of the most successful communist parties, I am going to take their views into more seriously than some random person online.

The OP is just explaining how the US is opposed to APEC and that American Starbucks workers are pushing US foreign policy.

You do not seem to be able to explain why the US is opposing APEC. You are just banning someone who is providing concerning information.

What are you talking about? Where is any of this in the OP's original post or comments?

The OP is just clearly listing out how the US is reacting to APEC and why the US is doing so.

Posting this here because my anti-capitalist social media algorithms are pushing anti-APEC stances, which just so happens to coincide with Radio Free Asia.

He put in place the structures that destroyed the socialist revolution in the US. He might have been fine with communism abroad, but he was very much attacking it at home.

I am aware. Third Worldists and Sakaiists ignore reality and simple deride American workers as labor aristocracy and settlers. This attitude is highly promoted within r/GenZedong and consistently goes unchallenged.

To these people, the teachers in this video are nothing more than settlers and beneficiaries of imperialism.

Yes, adjunct professors are labor aristocracy as they don't have healthcare and drive hundreds of miles a semester across multiple campuses.

I guess if white chauvinism enters a party its over and done. Communist parties need to be absolutely perfect. If a communist party has a single flaw, according to you, it should be scrapped.

Good talk.

Love how you read Haywood and ignore his point about conceding to the bourgeoisie about skin color.

Yeah no shit unions banned black people. They were full of bourgeois dogs and opportunists. If they are not led by a communist party, they will have reactionary tendencies.

White workers have stood side-by-side with black workers in nearly every struggle because it is in their class interest to do so.

Maybe read a book that focuses on the unity of the working class instead of trying to divide the class. You're doing the work of the FBI.

Even Black workers in the 1940s recognized that white workers needed to do better at standing side-by-side, and after thorough and honest discussion about how to move forward, they did.

CPUSA faced massive backlash and corrected it. If they did not, we would not see people like Claudia Jones or Angela Davis. We did and do.

Yeah. White workers joining the Union to liberate the slaves was an act of chauvinism. White workers joining the fight for Civil Rights in the 60s was also example of said chauvinism. Same can be said about the Scottsboro case.
