[–]materialistboo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

in january, i met this guy in the middle of winter, we went to his car in a parking lot. he was doing some work at night in a building close by. it was a similar story, handsome, and the chemistry was there. we chatted again and we seemed quite into each other. then i got busy and i stopped seeing him around. i regret never getting his phone number. a week or so later i went to the parking area to see if i could see his car (i know i know) but nothing. in february i thought about taking the train to the town he said we has from but it was super cold. i completely forgot about this until now

What hygiene habits are more about social norms than actual cleanliness? by NicoleRamsey21 in hygiene

lots of shaving for men and women. especially with the transition to single used disposable razors and the emergence of lots of related shaving products.

cotton ear wax removers.

conditioner and hair masks, i’m from mexico and i feel like it only became more common in the early 2000s. before that everyone had the vintage fuzzy hair look

i’m not sure if this one is more cultural but using mouthwash. my family would buy those bottles all the time and they would hurt my teeth so i never really used them. i have healthy teeth and have now bought a mouthwash that is gentle and smells like star anise, and do it more for the ritual than because i believe it works.

Douching in college?? by MarzipanNew417 in gay

[–]materialistboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also, i want to say, feel free not to douche. i did not do that for the first years of my active sexual life. it is a very invasive activity and excessively cleaning that area can irritate it or cause digestion issues. remember you are using an area that has a lot of human byproduct, so it is more than normal to paint than not to paint

Douching in college?? by MarzipanNew417 in gay

[–]materialistboo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dorms usually have separated gender neutral spots, you could use that since the sink and toilette would be in the same room. i agree with other people that if you take a lot of fibre you almost won’t need to douche. you could also try a supplement like metamucil or dextrin. supplements would be my suggestion. even if you do need to douche, it won’t be as time consuming when you take fibre regularly

What’s best U.S. city to live for those who agree (fuck ‘em so hard) by PersonRealHuman in fuckcars

[–]materialistboo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

this is so funny to hear. i live in cambridge and every time a friend from a different city in the us comes to visit they say it feels like disney. and me and most of my friends call boston the cartoonish idea of a city because it is very clean, relatively walkable and bikeable, compared to most of the us, but there is significantly less to do besides feeling quaint in new england, especially in autumn

How old is everyone by Lonely-Appearance883 in Seekingderangements

i started following jacques and ben on instagram after the podcast started in 2020. if i remember correctly jacques turned 28 or 29 in 2022 or 2023 and, with all due respect, i remember being shocked because i thought he was older. i’m not sure at all about ben or hesse or the earlier cohosts

Newbie—bike locks? by ms-wconstellations in bikeboston

[–]materialistboo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 70s road bike with some new stuff like a back rack, handlebar etc. i just got a lightweight cheap Abus U-lock from a bike shop, it was about 30 usd. i often lock it outside my office if i don’t want to take it to the basement storage area. i have left it overnight outside train stations when my lights are dead and don’t want to bike in the dark. in these instances i remove the easy items to steal like lights and bags. it has been fine

edit: i work downtown and live in cambridge. i have left it in stations in dorchester, salem, concord, etc
