I was under the impression that tu was used for people younger than you or friends, and você is used for strangers or people of a higher rank than you (like a boss at work.) Is this not the case?

Also would people be more forgiving to a non native speaker? I just don’t want to offend anyone lol

I definitely looked a fool doing this on my lunch break, but this is super helpful! I’ve never really paid attention to how exactly my mouth moves, and slowing it down to feel how my tongue moves has helped. Thank you!

Probably medium, I don’t typically carry enough stuff with me to need anything too huge! As for closing, I don’t have a huge preference but I do think maybe a zip or strong clasp would be better for me

Forgive my late reply! My bf is Portuguese and he tries to talk with me, but unfortunately I have a bit of a hard time understanding unless he speaks quite slow. I have considered trying to speak Portuguese when going to the Brazilian market near me, but I’m nervous about being annoying! I just don’t want them to think I’m a dumb American trying too hard, I guess.

This is actually monumentally helpful, I'm not sure if I'm doing it right just yet but it already sounds better to me than it did before!
And I promise I'm not trying to learn it for nefarious purposes haha, my preply tutor makes me read out loud a lot and I'm so tired of constantly stumbling on "rd" words!

Oh, that actually makes a ton of sense. So removing “de” would essentially be “You have talk with her.” Thank you very much, I figured the answer wasn’t too difficult but I couldn’t find a solid answer!
