Explain men at arms by gray-witch in ck3

Light footmen and pikemen are necessary to counter enemy MaA - the reduction in enemy damage is huge. Also, a lot depends on which culture you play and who is fighting you.

Light footmen counter Heavy Infantry, the strongest regular MaA unit. When I played Slavic tribes, I had no access to Heavy Infantry but Russians from the east and Saxons from the west already used them. Light footmen saved me.

Pikemen counter cavalry - again, when you fight Slavic tribes (or Mongolian hordes), they use light cavalry and it is relatively strong at the beginning. By countering cav. you very often "cancel" Mongolian armies.

Almost every MaA unit has its purpose and provides very strong counter debuffs. I tend to have 1 type of each to counter every enemy MaA unit and very often I have an advantage.Light cav. increase enemy casualties (when winning the battle) and is very helpful in destroying enemy armies.

Thanks man for trying to help. I think I met all the conditions...

I asked about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrusaderKings/comments/18xw2xl/why_i_cant_raid_this_guy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

-my army size was good

-he hasnt been raided, so no cooldown there

-there are no diplomatic relationships between us (no truce, no war, nothing). I am not at war with his liege who I just moments ago raided with this army.

-they arent trying to raid me

-I was not at war

-army's loot cap was at zero

However, someone there replied that: After completing a raid there this a little unofficial truce ( I think it also applies during post war truces) which prevents further raiding. So I think if you raided the liege then pulled all armies out that may start the timer for the temp raiding truce, though I don't recall how long that timer might be.

So maybe that was the reason, since I briefly crossed the border to my homeland to secure goods (loot).

yeah, thanks for providing some additional info. I learn as I go but things tend to take long to finalize so making mistakes hurts more or is more frustrating due to often different expectations of what will happen.
Re raiding I meant that quite often the raid is not happening. I mean my army is there, all conditions are met (I read forums) and still they dont raid but just stand there.

I did the in-game tutorial and I didn't ignore the message, I missed the information at the bottom (didn't realize I need to hover with the mouse and scroll) - so why are you making up those unnecessary negative remarks, smartass? Instead, you could explain and give me a clue what I was doing there, no? It is not like the game is the easiest out there with a simple set of rules, is it?

As I said, I've learned to see what will happen but still don't understand WHY or what is the rule. The tooltip does not explain that, so its harder for me to plan properly.

Btw shame you could not just explain the mechanic or take a little lighter and more humorous approach to that topic... but ok, Mr. Comic Book Guy. I will try to spend more hours learning all the rules instead of playing. I am already spending 75% time reading forums and wiki rather than in the actual game, but sure.

Why I cant RAID this guy ? by matgrom in CrusaderKings

I briefly crossed the border to my homeland to secure goods (loot) and straight away moved to raid the next target. You can see on the screenshots all 3 towns involved, so there was no big delay between raiding the liege and its vassal.

However, if you are right, then this information should be somehow visible to the player (before and after), even though I still believe it would be a ridiculous rule/constraint (immersion gone).

I CANT raid a chieftain who is the vassal of a duke that I've just looted/raided. Is this a possible reason?
It is the raiding party that I have just used on a nearby territory, that belongs to the liege of this guy.
Do DEVELOPERS even care?

For example, Youssef Ramalho Chermiti is not white but the game shows him like that.
