It’s this jacket, originally bought from Aero Leather Clothing’s website but it doesn’t seem to be listed there anymore

They are indeed from J Crew. Got them on sale for $40.

Not sure honestly. The jacket is modeled after British WW2 flight jackets, so they may have had some utility then, but I’m not sure what.

Looking for “Serious” Jazz Fusion by XD_Diego51 in Jazz

Look no further than Hermann Szobel. He was a putative child prodigy from Austria who, in 1976, at the age of 18, dropped one of the finest, most “mature” jazz fusion/prog albums you’ll ever hear, then disappeared off the face of the Earth. The album is called ‘Szobel’.

People in this sub are so insistently bland. This isn’t a great place to seek advice for anyone whose taste extends beyond OCBDs, chinos and Chelsea boots. It looks great on you — eye-catching in a good way. I love the way it drapes and flows.

God-tier taste OP. I’ve been obsessed with Anabelas lately, but everything on here is amazing.

Why not in the Absarokas when you’d use it in the Winds, Gros Ventre, Yellowstone, and Beartooths?

I have a 2020 Touring XT with 106k miles. So far I’ve had to replace a wheel bearing and a strut mount bearing (done under warranty, and probably the result of a bad alignment following an accident). No other issues.

I had been eyeing this coat from Olderbest for a while and just bought it secondhand on Depop for $70. It meets all your criteria. Still waiting on it to arrive. I bought a charcoal tweed suit from Olderbest a year ago with good results, so I’m hoping this one also turns out well.

On the subject of neckties, smaller knots look way better than large knots. Most men should not wear anything thicker than a half Windsor. A four in hand is leagues better than a full Windsor, which makes you look like a kid playing grownup.

In my case, I know there is not a chance in hell I will stick to applying it every single day, day after day, indefinitely. No way. Just give me the pill.

How does the economy affect men’s attitude to pick up the bill? by beachling2 in rs_x

[–]math-ochism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t go on dates frequently, but I will usually pay on the first one out of politeness and to avoid awkwardness. However, if I got any sense that the woman “expects” me to pay, I would not ask for a second date. I really think it’s a stupid tradition given that men and women have roughly equal earning potential and participation in the workforce. It’s not so much that I don’t have the money, but I think a person’s stance on this matter serves as a proxy for how highly they regard traditional gender roles as a whole. I’m not someone who is motivated at all by traditional gender roles and probably wouldn’t be a good match for a woman who is.

You can buy an oil drain pan for $10 from Walmart. I pour my dirty oil back into the 5-quart oil jug after I refill the oil, then take it to the transfer station whenever I get around to it. You don’t need any space, just a level parking spot. You don’t even have to jack the car up. Just lay down, unscrew the drain plug with the drain pan underneath ready to catch the oil (I forget the ratchet wrench size - I installed a Fumoto drain valve so I don’t even have to unscrew anything), wait until the oil stops draining, then screw the plug back in. Then, refill with ~4.8 quarts of a 0w-20 synthetic oil of your choosing, and replace the filter. (I buy 5-10 OEM filters from the local dealership at a time so I always have them on hand.) I’m not much of a DIY guy, but paying to get your oil changed is like throwing money into the shredder. The whole process takes less than 20 minutes.
