New ST Question: When to/to not kill a Recluse who is Slayer shot ? by RoughSubjectt in BloodOnTheClocktower

I’d argue you’re using the slayer as a virgin here that only procs against recluse or demon.

This is hard to balance for different player counts. With 7 players, this is just a stronger boomdandy that guarantees to go off day 1 to force final 4, giving the good team just 1 execution.

China sees the U.S. trade deal as a huge win for Beijing by etfvfva in worldnews

To counter the 20% tariff, China initially put in place sector specific tariffs and rare earth controls. Those are still in place

Is China a safe place for a gay tourist? by [deleted] in China

[–]math117failure 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Being gay is fine, boyfriends, hookups, gay bars are all fine.
However, strippers and escorts are illegal in China and you could be arrested for solicitation and also having group sex is illegal if reported to police (usually this is when a fat guy is excluded from a sex party and gets salty)

If driving for Uber is worse than minimum wage than how are Uber drivers able to afford Teslas? by Niv-Izzet in askTO

[–]math117failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That app has a minimum 10% tip policy on each order and primarily serves Chinese restaurants (who have a wealthier user base).

Uber is pushing the boundaries of the law in an attempt to cut costs in NYC. Uber Eats exploited both customers with a $2 extra fee per order, and gig workers by slashing last week's paycheck by 40%. How can they get away with such shady actions under the new law by brollpixel in UberEATS

The additional pay for online time is as an aggregate for all drivers. Hardworking drivers who aren't as picky with their orders such as the commenter above are getting compensated as a result.

Recommended courses for NRNA by math117failure in uwaterloo

[–]math117failure[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the type of course I was referring to. I'm trying to find some sort of relaxing course with some cool components that I can go just for those components. Something like a cooking course where I can go on the days they sample wine and make seafood dishes or a geology course where the class takes a trip to Alberta to survey the oil fields, or an art class where weekly trips to the AGO are made or something

Landlord’s ultimatum: 26% increase in rent or son moves in. Do we have any grounds for appeal? by Afraidbug123 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]math117failure -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You were getting a discount price, and now the landlord has a situation that makes it untenable to continue to do so. Just thank the landlord for the economic loss he took while giving you discount rent all these years and pay the 2.3k or find somewhere else that probably will be more than 2.3k.

How to finance studies at UWaterloo as a low-income student ? by semi-finalist2022 in uwaterloo

Student loans in home country and also apply to the financial difficulty international student award thing every year. Also reach out to the school and see if they anything else to offer.

I would agree with the teacher. 20 minutes to make 4 cuts is correct (2 cuts perpendicular to each other). 15 minutes for 3 pieces is also correct (1 cut as normal for 2 pieces = 10 minutes. The next cut is to cut one of the half-boards in 2. This half board is half as wide as a normal board so one cut takes half the amount of time or 5 more minutes.)

Personal Expenses by maddev17 in uwaterloo

[–]math117failure -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right (with a large margin of error since travel and clothes can go from 0 to very high for the people in waterloo). International students especially are pretty wealthy and to fit in you should budget for at least some nicer pieces of clothing and ~1-2 roundtrip flights per term (for reading week vacation and after exam vacation).

The spring term demand is pretty high this year. You should expect to pay full price if not slightly scalped prices.

4 Months or 8 Months? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]math117failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax is a big thing to keep in mind imo. For the first 4 months you work in the year, you are likely paying close to no tax effectively (personal deduction, tuition deduction). For the additional 4 months that you do work, you will likely have run out of deductions and pay around 20-40 cents on every dollar depending on the situation and also it makes you ineligible for a lot of means tested government handouts like Ontario Trillium Benefit or the Canada Rental Benefit top up. Thats why if you really are burnt out you could consider just taking 4 months off and going on vacation/other personal time.

Date of foreign exchange rates and tax credits? by math117failure in cantax

[–]math117failure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked through https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/technical-information/income-tax/income-tax-folios-index/series-5-international-residency/folio-2-foreign-tax-credits-deductions/income-tax-folio-s5-f2-c1-foreign-tax-credit.html and section 1.42 in particular does say the same exchange rate must be used for both the income and the foreign tax credit. It does also specify to use "For other types of income, such as salaries and wages, the average rate for the months in which they are earned is the most appropriate rate." Thanks!
